MaxFund Animal Shelter
MaxFund is a true no‐kill Animal Adoption Center, whose primary mission is to take in
injured animals with no known owner and provide them with medical care, rehabilitation and
find them good homes with responsible pet parents. In May 1989, Nanci Suro gathered a
group of animal lovers that believe these animals deserve a second chance; they planned
and carried out all of the fundraisers. Dr. Bill Suro, and his staff, provided the medical care
and kennel for the animals. In 1990, thanks to a generous offer from Art Leisenring, the
MaxFund moved into a building at 1025 Galapago Street in Denver. MaxFund’s mission:
“Saving injured animals without owners. We will keep working hard to
alleviate the suffering of creatures that didn’t deserve their fate, and to
find a home for them with loving people. We believe in second chances.
No matter how large we become, in a real sense we will always be “the
small shelter that makes a big difference.”
