community’s abused and neglected
children because of their tireless efforts. In fact, Joshua House
sits on Michelin Drive due to Olin Mott’s fundraising efforts with
Michelin Tires and Dottie Berger MacKinnon planted most of the

from a good education. He not only founded Joshua House, but
he also created the USF Tutor-A-Bull program. Olin never let you
forget that having a good self esteem and confidence was the

Our hearts are saddened by our loss, but our pride in their good
service will sustain us. I know it will sustain me. Rest in peace
dear friends, know that we hold your torches high and will carry
on the good fight in your honor and in your memories.
As we enter this Holiday Season, we will endeavor to remember
the true spirit of this season and honor both Olin and Dottie
in our actions and our service to abused, abandoned, and
neglected children.

were protected by the Joshua House staff. Ms. Dottie and Mr.
Olin, as they were known to the children and staff, will always
watch over Joshua House. We, the Board of Directors of Friends
their kids in the caring, compassionate and comforting way in
which we were taught by our founders. Dottie and Olin will live
on in the hearts of the Board, the staff and every child that ever
found solace and safety at the haven that they provided – Joshua
House. God bless Dottie and Olin and all of the abused and
neglected children that they spent a lifetime protecting.

School Supplies Success!
It seems like just yesterday that our children were going to
the beach and sleeping in late, but summer is long over and
their schedules are now filled with after-school activities
and studying. The children at Joshua House attend a total
of 10 different schools – all with different requirements for
dress codes, uniforms and school supplies! But, because of
you, our donors, every one of our children started school
with the tools (and uniforms) they need to be successful!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. We
can’t possibly list all the amazing and wonderful groups
and individuals who supported our School Supplies Drive,
but special thanks to Subway Restaurants for offering a free
cookie to their customers who made a donation, Syniverse
Technologies for purchasing a large number of the
uniforms, and the Tampa General Hospital Nurse Practice
Council for the most amazing collection of donations!
Pin Party @ Pin Chasers
This year’s Pin Party was held on Sunday, October 6th and
it was more fun than ever before! The fun atmosphere at
Pin Chasers added to the excitement and a lot of new and
on-going supporters of Joshua House laughed, bowled
and bid on auction items! The music and the bowling
were great, the cupcakes from Cupcake Cache were a big
hit, but the face painters were the star of the day with
all of the kids! Thank you to everyone who came to the
event. Overall, over 150 people had a great time while
supporting our children and we raised over $5,000 at the
same time. We call that Pin Party Perfection!
