Northern Ireland Hospice “Make a Will Fortnight”
All you need to know about Northern Ireland Hospice’s “Make a Will Fortnight” Northern Ireland Hospice is a local charity at the heart of your community. We provide specialist nursing care to local adults, children and young people with life-limiting illnesses both in Adult Hospice, Children’s Hospice and at home. We also offer invaluable support to their families. During 17th – 28th March 2014 Hospice has joined forces with 21 local solicitor firms to give you an opportunity to have your will written in return for a donation to Northern Ireland Hospice or Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.* Why make a will? Only about 3 out every 10 people here have made a will. For many of us, it’s something we’d rather not think about, but setting our affairs in order now is important. Making a will saves a lot of heartache and it allows your loved ones to follow your wishes. A standard will can cost around £120, so this is a substantial saving. We are not asking for a set minimum donation, but as it costs £9 million in total to keep Northern Ireland Hospice running each year, our suggested donations are £30 (codicil), £80 (standard will) and £125 (mirror wills). This is how your donation could help: £30 could fund an hour of specialist hospice care for a patient £84 could provide 4 complementary therapy sessions for a patient £105 could fund 3 specialist support sessions for bereaved families How to take part in “Make a Will Fortnight” • Cut out and keep the entitlement voucher on the opposite page • Choose a solicitor from the list on the reverse of this leaflet, and contact them to arrange an appointment during this particular fortnight, quoting ‘Northern Ireland Hospice “Make a Will Fortnight” • At the appointment the solicitor will hand you an envelope. Place your voucher and donation in the envelope and seal it. A lasting legacy to Northern Ireland Hospice This year 1 in 5 of our patients will be cared for thanks to gifts left in wills. There is no obligation to leave a gift in your will to Hospice. However, once you have provided for your loved ones, any gift you leave to Hospice – no matter what size – will help to ensure that the specialist nursing and medical care we provide will continue to be available to the people of Northern Ireland in future. Please discuss this with your solicitor if you would like to be part of Hospice’s future in this way. If you find that your will is not standard and requires specialist legal advice, your chosen solicitor will advise you and agree a fee with you before continuing the process.
