The Meres and Mosses is a wetland
landscape area covering parts of
Shropshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire and
north Wales, whose distinctive features
were formed during the last Ice Age.
The sum of these important habitats and
their distinctive wildlife has created an
internationally important and richly
diverse landscape.
The Partnership is managing a Government
funded Nature Improvement Area (green
boundary on map) and a Heritage Lottery
Landscape Partnership (yellow boundary
on map), working to restore, conserve and
enhance this distinctive landscape.
This programme has been supported by HLF,
Defra, DCLG, Environment Agency, Forestry
Commission and Natural England.

Farm Grants
& Advice
in the Meres and Mosses
Farm Grants in the
Meres & Mosses
Through the Partnership, Farm Grants
of approximately £1,000 are available,
supporting practical activities that will
improve water quality, wildlife habitats
and the wider landscape.
What types of projects can
receive support?
•Projects that conserve or restore on-farm habitats. Examples include wet areas, ponds, hedgerows and hedgerow trees.
•Projects that tackle pollution on the farm (that potentially affect the wider environment).
•Projects that welcome visitors onto the farm and help local people better understand modern farming.
•Specialist advice from a consultant, or training on issues affecting the farm environment.
Who can apply?
The grant is available within the green
shaded area on the map (see reverse).
Eligibility will be determined by project staff,
guided by the wider aims and objectives of
the partnership programme.
How much grant is available?
The amount of grant is flexible based on
the project. However, the applicant must
contribute, either financially or in-kind, a
minimum of 35% of the project cost.
A farm visit will be required prior to application.
