$100,000 Raised at the South Point by the
Pro Rodeo League of Women!
A great time was had by all at
the 23rd edition of the Pro Rodeo
League of Women Style Show and
Luncheon. More than 1000 people
came to support the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund and boy did they!
The event pledged $100,000 to the
JCCF! The fashions on display by
Wrangler, Cruel Girl and Cinch were
amazing, the lunch was delicious
and the Purple Cowboy Wine flowed! As usual Flint
Rasmussen had his hands full helping give out over
200 prizes in the drawing supplied by the great vendors at Cowboy Christmas, Country Christmas and
Cowboy Marketplace. In addition to the beautiful
Martin Saddlery Sherry Cervi saddle that was given
way, the silent and live auctions helped push the luncheon to new heights in fundriasing for JCCF!
Sharon Camarillo and Jennifer Smith served
as the emcees for the afternoon, we missed Pam
Minick as she her husband Billy were in Fort Worth
recieving The Charles Goodnight Award but Jennifer
did a great job!
Thanks to all who sponsored and support this
important fundraiser, which has raised more than $1
million to give injured rodeo professionals “A Hand Up.”

Justin Boots Gear Bag
Promotion Raises $25,000
The Justin Gear Bag Promotion is just one of the ways that the Justin Boot
Company continues it’s support of the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. Every
year they create a great gear bag with the Wrangler NFR Logo, include
it as a gift with purchase for Justin boot buyers and donate a portion of
the proceeds of every sale to JCCF, raising $25,000 in 20010.

Crown Royal Riders 90 Point
Rides Earn JCCF $10,000
World Champion Bull Rider J.W. Harris and his Crown
Royal Rider teammates at Wrangler NFR – Wesley
Silcox, Cody Whitney, Clayton Williams and Steve
Woolsey – had a special mission during the finals,
to score 90+ point rides. For every 90+ point ride,
Crown Royal promised to donate $2,000 to the Justin
Cowboy Crisis Fund (JCCF). At the end of the finals
there were three 90+ rides, with Harris’ 94.5 ride as
the gold standard. Due to the number of stellar rides
by all of the riders, Crown Royal donated $10,000
which Harris presented to JCCF’s Cindy Schonholtz.
PRCA Stock Contractors
Support JCCF
The Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund received a $5,000 donation from proceeds from Benny Binion’s Bucking
Horse & Bull Sale through PRCA stock contractors.
The event is held annually at the South Point Hotel in
Las Vegas in conjunction with the Wrangler National
Finals Rodeo.
“We believe people need to have a way to
keep going, if they are injured, and we think the
Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund has done a good job of
making sure the money goes to those who are welldeserving of it,” Barnes said.
Stock contractors have closely watched the
management and impact of the program – run by Director of PRCA Industry Outreach Cindy Schonholtz
– and think it is an example of how ProRodeo can
help itself grow and thrive.
“That is what the Benny Binion Bucking Horse
& Bull Sale is all about,” he said. “It is about everybody in the rodeo business working together to
make our product better.”

Thanksgiving Rodeo School A Success!
The 7th Annual Thanksgiving Rodeo School held Nov. 26-28 at Resistol Arena in Mesquite, Texas was a huge success.
The roughstock school prides itself on serving many purposes and that is exactly what the school accomplished again
this year.
The school is a fundraiser for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund – something that its founder and Wrangler National Finals Rodeo bareback rider Wes Stevenson is passionate about. Organizers will donate $9,000 to the JCCF from the
2010 school and in total has donated $74,000 to the program, which assists injured rodeo athletes and their families.
It is also a school that provides instruction in roughstock events under the direction of seven-time PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year Stace Smith. Additionally, the school includes antwo-night rodeo that was added last year and held
again this year, so instructors could fine-tune their skills for the Wrangler NFR, as well as demonstrate riding techniques for students.
Stevenson said travel partner Tom McFarland is someone who exemplifies the importance of the Thanksgiving Rodeo School. McFarland taught at the school before injuries to his riding arm, biceps and leg sidelined him. He
received assistance from the JCCF to help him pay his expenses while he rehabilitated. McFarland recovered from his
injuries and taught at the school again this year.
This year’s school included 43 students and a long list of instructors of past and current Wrangler NFR contestants
such as Cody DeMoss, Heith DeMoss, Steven Dent, Pete Hawkins, 2000 World Champion Bareback Rider Jeffrey Collins
and many more.
Stevenson, his wife, Francie, and others, spend countless hours volunteering to make sure the school continues. Stevenson, also an instructor, was motivated to start the school after he badly injured his left leg. Thirteen surgeries were
needed to eventually help repair the leg, which included growing new bone. He was assisted by the JCCF and used
some of the money to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
“We’re trying to give back to the sport of rodeo that has given so much to us,” Stevenson said.

Pat Parelli Supports JCCF in Las Vegas
Renowned Horse Trainer and former rodeo contestant Pat Parelli,
raised $2760 while conducting “Natural Horsemanship the Cowboy
Way” during three demos at the South Point Hotel & Casino on December 1-2, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV during the National Finals Rodeo. “Rodeoing taught me a lot of important things I still use today
in my teaching, in my business and in my relationships with people
in general. It taught me to be mentally, emotionally and physically
fit. It taught me how to create good habits and how to relax horses.
After all, they are athletes too, and need to be relaxed to perform
their best” says Parelli. “I’m happy to be able to give back in a small
way to an industry that was such a formative part of my life.”

JUSTIN COWBOY CRISIS FUND
With no guaranteed salaries or
injured reserve provisions in the
sport of rodeo, these professional
athletes are often left with no
place to turn when faced with
serious, sidelining injuries and the
accompanying financial hardship.
Recognizing that serious injuries
can be traumatic enough without
the additional burden of financial
worries, the Justin Boot Company
formed a partnership with the
Professional Rodeo Cowboys
Association (PRCA) and the
Women’s Professional Rodeo
Association (WPRA) in 1989
to establish the Justin Cowboy
Crisis Fund (JCCF).
The JCCF’s premise is to lend a
helping hand to professional rodeo
athletes and their families in the
event of catastrophic injuries. The
fund fills the void of financial
hardship when the inevitable
serious injury interferes with
the careers of those who have
dedicated their lives to the sport.
Assistance awards are based on
the severity of injury, the number
of dependents and the applicant’s
financial situation. The Fund
also takes into consideration the
individual’s involvement in and/
or contribution to the sport of
professional rodeo.
Unique among today’s numerous
charitable organizations, the Justin
Cowboy Crisis Fund stands above
the rest by dedicating 100% of
all contributions received for
disbursement to eligible applicants.
This uncommon practice for a
charitable organization is made
possible by the joint commitment
of the Justin Boot Company and
the PRCA, which underwrite all
administrative costs associated
with managing the JCCF, leaving
all monies received through
contributions (and as investment
earnings) to serve
their intended
purpose.
It’s a hand up, not a hand out.
