THE NAXOS SPOKEN WORD LIBRARY
Featuring a comprehensive collection of classic audiobooks and high quality
independent publisher productions, the Naxos Spoken Word Library (NSWL)
provides an online and offline streaming service in English, German and French
for both individual and institutional subscribers.
Naxos AudioBooks is an award winning audiobook publisher producing
unique literary classics and educational themed productions. NSWL offers the
complete Naxos AudioBooks catalog, many available with text on screen and
print features.
Also included are Naxos Educational products with a unique audiobook focus on
classical music, reflecting our affiliation with Naxos, the world’s leading classical
music group, these titles cover lighthearted introductions to opera as well as
biographies of composers and a survey of orchestral instruments.
Education
Introduce students to books above their reading level and new genres students
might not otherwise consider; teach critical listening; model good interpretive
reading; a read-aloud model that bridges important topics of discussion for
parents and children who can listen together while commuting to sporting
events, music lessons or on vacations.
Speech to Text recognition
Introduce new vocabulary or difficult proper names or locales, unfamiliar
dialects or accents, Old English, and literary styles. Student users can easily
repeat passages to learn how to properly read and interpret content.
Convenience
Discover the improved ease of use, low cost entertainment and uplifting benefits:
a smooth and intuitive experience.
Smartphone use and mobility
NSWL can be accessed with iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
The NSWL app is now available through the iTunes App Store.

WHY NAXOS SPOKEN WORD LIBRARY?
Value for money
Naxos AudioBooks, like Naxos music label, produces first-class performances
and recorded sound at an affordable price. NSWL offers the same outstanding
value-for-money proposition.
Online content saves
time and money
With NSWL, no lost or damaged
CDs need ever to be replaced.
No more worries about lack of
shelf space and multiple copies
are no longer necessary.
On-site and remote
access
Students, teaching staff, patrons
and other users can log on and listen
in the library, the lecture room, the office,
the dormitory or at home.
Vast range of content
Literature and poetry ranges from medieval times to the twenty-first century,
and many newly written text supplement an ever-expanding range of non-fiction.
As well as individuals, teachers and students may benefit from this variety, and
from the skillfully abridged versions of the classics. Unabridged content is also
available, with more being added monthly.
Simple set up
Set up is simple and easy. For educational institutions, Naxos will create dedicated
URLs, and flexible access control through a combination of IP address check
and Referring URL. Separate usernames and passwords will also be available for
professors / teaching staff and library administrators.

Easy-to-use search facilities
User can choose among three different search modes:
• The Keyword Search facility is easy to use. Just enter keyword,
name of author, reader or work title.
• The Browse facility allows you to browse the entire library in
alphabetical order by author and/or by category.
• The Advanced Search facility allows you to search by specific
authors, titles, categories and catalog numbers.
Text on screen
Text is available to follow on screen, providing a comprehensive presentation of
the literature and an excellent language-learning facility. Text may also be printed.
Bookmarking
All titles can be bookmarked, enabling the user to return to any track in the
story at a later date; it also allows a teacher to mark a particular section for
students to access for study purposes.
Cover art and complete track lists
Original cover art and complete track lists are displayed. Users can listen to
complete works or individual tracks.
In-copyright titles
Naxos has valid licenses from the publishers of in-copyright titles, allowing these
titles to be streamed.
Multiple simultaneous accesses
Multiple users can simultaneously listen to the same or different content. NSWL
is available 24/7 for unlimited simultaneous access.
4
Flexible fee structure
The fee structure is based on the number of
simultaneous users, with a minimum
of only five users for universities,
music colleges and public libraries,
and three for schools.
Registered users can be both
individuals and workstations,
on and off your facility.
Sound quality
We offer near CD quality.
Static URLs to
track and CD
Static URL can be used to deep link
directly to particular tracks. They can be sent
via email, placed in teaching resources, used in
PowerPoint presentations, and students can access the
tracks simply by clicking on the link.
Administrator functions
Live usage statistics are available to librarians logging in with administrator /
librarian usernames and passwords. Librarians can also set the maximum time
for each login.

The Naxos global presence means assistance you may need in setting NSWL up
for your institution is never far away.
