Celebrate Our County Parks
Jay M. Gregg, CPRP, Regional Park Superintendent, Southern Region - Nottingham & Wolf’s Hollow County Parks
Three of Chester County Regional Parks – Wolf’s Hollow, Hibernia and
Springton Manor Farm – are located in WCCCC’s focus area. These unique
Landscapes of Opportunity are important resources to help make
ChesCoWest a great place to live and work.
Wolf’s Hollow County Park, 1399 Schoff
Road, Atglen, lies along the uppermost
reaches of the Octoraro Creek and the south
rise of the broadening Great Chester Valley.
These natural features have given Wolf’s
Hollow beautiful bluffs where visitors can
overlook the creek and glades of Mountain
Laurel. Nearly ten miles of trails wind
through the park’s varied topography,
providing hikers with routes ranging from
moderate to challenging. Birders appreciate
the park’s several hundred acres of mature
Modern footbridge with
early
20th century ice dam
woodland habitat that attract many less
in background at
commonly observed birds such as Brown
Wolf’s Hollow
Thrashers, Scarlet Tanagers, and Baltimore
Orioles. Wolf’s Hollow is managed as a rustic, natural park, with no
public office and limited comfort facilities. Call the Southern Regional
Park Office at 610-932-2589 for more information.

Last issue’s question:
Which local Chamber
business is located in this
building today?
Sadsburyville Hotel was built in 1799 and was
purchased in 1973 by Harry and Athena Lymberis.
It has been family owned and operating as Harry’s the
Neighborhood Place ever since.
Guess who is pictured here?

Is Your Business Prepared for an Emergency?
By Nina Malone, Arbonne
There’s a lot more to emergency preparedness than making
sure your business is protected by the proper insurances.
That’s huge, but preparing to safeguard people; workspace;
technology, data and records; and suppliers and
dependencies is just as critical.
According to Robyn Slater, MPH, Regional Vulnerable
Populations Coordinator for the Chester County Department
of Emergency Services, those responsible for safeguarding a
business or organization need to determine recovery time
objectives for each component and set priorities depending
on the nature of the company.
“This applies to human services agencies and other
community groups, too,” she added. “You can check our
main website at http://www.chesco.org/des.”
Here are just a few bullet points to consider. For the full
document, “Framework for Developing a Business Continuity
Plan,” contact the Western Chester County Chamber of
Commerce Office at [email protected] or
610-384-9550.
Business Preparedness:
People:
• Identify all of the people essential to the operations of
your business or organization. Include employees,
contractors and volunteers.
• Ensure you have alternate contact information for all of
your people.
• Determine if your people can get to an alternate
location without assistance. What are the job skills that
your organization or business cannot survive without?
• Determine the minimum number of people required to
run your business or organization. Are essential
procedures documented so others could follow them?
Learn more at LGHealth.org/Parkesburg
or call 610-857-6616.
Workspace:
• Indentify characteristics of your workspace that are
essential to run the business or organization such as:
location, parking, public transportation, ramps,
elevators, generated power, cooking facilities, etc.
• What contents of your workspace (e.g., tools, paper
records/files, supplies) are absolutely essential to run
your organization or business?
• Identify possible alternative workspaces
• Establish reciprocal agreements with other
organizations. Are there organizations or business
partners in the area that would be open to a mutual aid
agreement?
Technology, data and records:
• What information is essential to run your business?
• Is there more than one copy of the essential
information? Are the copies geographically dispersed?
• Can the information be accessed from an alternate
location?
• What technology is required to deliver that
information?
• Do you have backup technology, data, or spare
hardware?
Suppliers and dependencies:
• What supply chains are essential to run your
organization (i.e. business partners, etc.)?
• Do you have alternate contact information for your
suppliers? Afterhours phone numbers, personal cell
numbers, etc.
• Do you have alternate suppliers you can call on?

County Commissioners Officially Open Tactical Training
“Village” for Chester County Emergency Responders
Jenn Givler, Coatesville Area Senior Center
Almost 300,000 times per year in
Chester County, someone dials 9-1-1
for help. It is for this reason, that the
Tactical Village at the Public Safety
Training Campus in South Coatesville
was built.
The Public Safety Training Campus is
designed to help train Chester County’s
first responders, and offers Police, Fire,
and EMS personnel opportunities to
train as individual organizations as well
as together.
The Academic Building was opened in
September of 2012, and offers space
for classes, meetings, and seminars.
In May of 2015, the Tactical Village was
officially opened. The Tactical Village
includes residential and industrial
facades, building shells, main street
hazards, a high-rise training tower, a
vehicle burn and rescue area, as well as
a gasoline and oil fire suppression
simulator, and props to practice
hazardous materials spill containment.
The total cost of the Public Safety
Training Campus is expected to be
$19.1 million. Funding for the project
has come from the State, the Federal
Government, grants from the County,
Brandywine Health Foundation, and
the Phoenixville Community Health
Foundation.

The third phase of the Campus is a
Police Firing Range, and is scheduled to
open in 2016.

Hibernia Mansion is open for tours on summer Sundays, and
also serves as backdrop for an annual murder mystery event

Wagontown Road, is a popular fishing destination, with a
launching ramp for small boats. Hibernia’s six picnic pavilions
are popular locations for hosting family reunions and other
gatherings. The Hibernia Hikers meet on Saturday mornings
to enjoy some exercise and fellowship, and a variety of
interpretive programs are offered throughout the year.
Hibernia County Park hosts one of Chester County’s longest
