Welcome to the 2014 Branfil Christmas Bazaar!
I hope you’ve been saving your pennies coins notes
American Express cards for this event.
I know some of you considered re-mortgaging your house
or selling your grandmother Mercedes so that you could
support the school, it really wasn’t necessary, but I’m very
grateful!
We’ve got such a lot on for you this year, so much work
has gone into it and PTA members have been working hard
all day week month year to make sure it’s a success. There
are stalls, games, cakes, toys and refreshments, Father
Christmas, snow (yes, snow) and of course the best room in
the bazaar, the White Elephant! [ahem, in case you don’t
know, that’s where I am].
So come along, chase those moths out of your wallet and
buy, buy, buy!
Oh, and don’t forget to have fun.

Fundraising
The PTA have put on many events this year and have raised lots of money with
your help and support.
This winter term of 2014 as always has been a busy fundraising year!
We have already organised:
• School Lottery
• Bags2School
• Chocolate Sale
• Pantomime
• Children’s Bazaar
• Christmas Bazaar
• DreamCatcher Photography Session
And there is still more to come
before we break for Christmas
with the school discos at the end
of term and a Christmas Wreath
making evening!
The PTA would like to thank all of you who have helped to organise or run these
events. We really wouldn’t be able to do it without your help!
We have funded a number of programmes within the school that your child
would otherwise not have been able to use or take part in, and we thank you for
helping us to raise the funds to pay for this.
These include, butterfly, ladybird and living eggs programmes, PGL pocket
money & t-shirts, pocket money for those not attending PGL, yr 6 leavers disco
and autograph books, lego workshops and circus workshops.
Our fundraising target for this year is to raise enough money to purchase 20
more iPads and cases, a mini mac to manage the apps and a tower to store and
charge the iPads. Adding these to the iPads that the school already has will
allow all the children to have use of the iPads in their curriculum.
We have also funded a memorial bench for Garwood Courts, a table football
game, table hockey game and wii for lunch club.

Recipe
Melting Snowman Biscuits
Ingredients
• 200g fondant icing sugar
• 6 white marshmallows
• 6 large cookies
• 24 mini chocolate beans
• 6 pretzel sticks
• 1 tube black writing icing
Method
1. Put the icing sugar into a bowl and add cold water a teaspoon at
a time until the mixture is runny but thick enough to coat a spoon.
2. Ask an adult to snip the marshmallows in half using wetted scissors.
3. Spoon a little icing onto each cookie and attach half a marshmallow.
Using a little icing, stick the other half on top at an angle. Drizzle
a little more icing onto the cookie to make melting snow.
4. Break the pretzel sticks in half and place on the cookie for arms.
Stick orange chocolate beans on for the noses. Stick three chocolate
beans on each cookie to represent buttons.
5. Using the writing icing, pipe small blobs for the eyes and mouth.
Leave to set.
