2014 Medina County Fall Foliage Tour – a tradition since 1968 Tour Courtesy: 1. Follow the arrow directions for traffic safety and flow. 2. Obey pet restrictions. 3. High Maple Farm TOUR HOSTS Learn how farming was done in Medina County in the 1900s by watching old farm equipment operate at the Kovalik family farm. Marvel at the collection of tractors and other antique farm equipment on display, and view the family sawdust business in giant hoop barns. Lodi Ruritans will be offering food for sale. Mack’s Food Center th Celebrate our 30 year with demonstrations of pioneer crafts and skills, visit the historical encampment, enjoy the sounds of bluegrass and dulcimer music, and try your hand at pioneer games and activities. Live entertainment and music both days; food and crafts available for purchase. Port-a-Potty available; pets on leash only 2. Northern Ohio Railway Museum Take a walking tour to see streetcars, interurban, rapid transit, and railroad equipment from Northern Ohio dating from 1895 to 1970. The tour includes a visit to the museum store. The museum itself is still under development so please wear appropriate walking shoes for uneven and rough surfaces. Port-a-Potty available; NO PETS 3. Lodi Library Library staff eagerly awaits your visit and will have local historical displays and slide show, educational kid’s crafts, a Plein-Air art demonstration, and ongoing tours of the beautiful library. Restrooms available; NO PETS 4. Richman Farms The Indoe family welcomes you to its 700-acre farm. Learn about a variety of farm crops and visit the state-of-the-art cow milking barn that replaced the one destroyed by a tornado in 2007. This farm has been recognized by the Soil & Water Conservation District for its outstanding conservation practices. Take a walking tour to see how jerky, smokies, and sausages are made, and sample some of the products. Items available for purchase include bulk foods, hot lunches, and beverages. Restrooms available; NO PETS 7. Pine Crest Farms At the Kormos family farm, stroll through the barnyard and stables, enjoy a hayride, corn maze, petting zoo, farm equipment display, and more! The farm market features fresh produce, fall decorations, food, and drinks for sale. A small fee may apply for some activities. Port-a-Potty available; pets on leash only 8. Spencer Feed & Supply Visit this unique historic operating feed mill, modern farm store, and builders supply yard. Guided mill tours will be available throughout the weekend. Restrooms available; pets on leash only 9. Circle B Stables Stop by this turn of the century horse farm and training facility. Learn about horse care, training and the discipline of “reigning,” enjoy a stroll through the original barn and carriage house, and visit the bunk house that hosts horse camp activities. Outhouse available; pets on leash only POINTS OF INTEREST Side Stop (SS) = A stop with minimal parking that may or may not have organized activities, but stopping and exploring are encouraged; Drive By (DB) = A place of notable interest, but not a stopping point on the tour A. “Sign Our Streams” (DB) - Stream and river crossings are sponsored by families and organizations to encourage stewardship of waterways and better water quality. Adopt a stream by calling the Medina County Soil & Water District. B. Still Meadow Farms (SS) – Features autumn arrangements using home-grown items and an antique/classic car and tractors display. Lodi Harrisville Historical Society and Railroad Depot (SS) – Visit the town hall to see historical artifact displays, and tour the railroad depot across the street. Restrooms available; pets on leash only D. Whistle Hollow Farm (SS) – The Winson family farm turns into a “pumpkin factory” for all of your fall decorating needs. Enjoy a corn maze and petting zoo. Port-a-Potty available; NO PETS E. Amish Farms & School (DB) – Get a glimpse of Medina County’s Amish community along this scenic stretch of Black River School Road. F. Letha House Park (SS) – This Medina County Park District site opened in 1976. It features beautiful hiking trails, picnicking areas, reservable shelters, a fishing lake, and astronomy observatory open only during scheduled public programs.
