By Nina Crowder
Superior Sun
Fans and community members showed up throughout the
day Saturday as they attend the Superior Business Expo held

enjoyable to talk with.
The vendors that helped make this event successful
included Superior Chamber of Commerce; Central Pinal
Publishing; Superior Optimists Club; Superior Post Office;

Visitors were able to receive massages; Ms.Patsy helped
customers with hair and make-up; several samples of
cookies were available and were delicious; nutrition and
energy information was provided; Something Fishy showed
off some very unique handmade shirts; Dalton Realty
provided residential and commercial properties; information
about the Arizona Trail, Lost Dutchman and Lost Trail were

As enjoyable as the vendors and community members
were there was an added bonus with a fashion show. All the
women did a fantastic job at entertaining a large audience
with the fashion show. There was something for everyone
and the attendees seemed to have a good time. Thanks to
everyone who came out and supported the Superior Business

The tenth-ranked Panthers ended their modest twogame losing streak last Friday by defeating the visiting
Joseph City Wildcats, 62 – 42.
Sophomore quarterback Gage Cruz scored six
touchdowns in the game, throwing for three and rushing
for three more. He combined for over 400 yards of total
offense – 235 passing and 166 rushing.
Sophomore running back Edgar Pacheco rushed for
172 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a receiving
touchdown. Matthew Zavala added two touchdowns,
one rushing and one receiving. He finished with 133 allpurpose yards.
“I thought we played pretty well,” Panthers’ head coach
Ryan Palmer said after the game. “Offensively we were
strong.”
The Panthers defense allowed only 12 first half points
but allowed 30 after halftime. It’s something that Palmer
wants to see fixed before the playoffs start.
“Defensively, we have to work on some of the little
things,” he said, referring to better pursuit angles and
better tackling. “Overall it was a solid win and it gets us
back on the right track.”
Another potential area of concern for the Panthers is the
number of penalties they’ve been flagged for over the last
two games.
While it could be argued some of the calls have been
borderline, Palmer says, “We still have too many
penalities.”
A commitment to better fundamentals and more
discipline will minimize the number of calls going against
the Panthers.
The Panthers travel to Arete Prep this Friday to take on a
1 – 4 Chargers team. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

An Advertising Proverb
When Mark Twain was editing a newspaper in
Missouri, one of his subscribers wrote in, saying that
he had found a spider in his newspaper and wondered
whether it was a sign of good or bad luck. Twain’s
response: “Finding a spider is neither good luck nor bad.
The spider was merely looking over our newspaper to see
which merchant was not advertising, so that he could go
to that store, spin his web across the door, and lead a life
of undisturbed peace ever afterward.’’

They represent the 22 military veterans that lose their

their honor.
The Veteran’s Higher Education Initiative urges that
