UNIT PORTRAITS OFFERED
For the first time since the Saratoga 230th,
we will offer the opportunity for unit portraits at
no charge. The Rock Ford Foundation has
arranged for a photographer to be on site for the
weekend who will schedule unit photograph
portraits to be taken. The portraits will be sent
by email to unit commanders after the event.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR HORSES
There will be both a veterinarian and a farrier
on call at the site for this event. You will need to
bring your own hay and feed, as it will not be
offered by the site.
PARTY SATURDAY NIGHT
commander and make certain they have
authorization to use the on-site barn facility.
NO SCHOOL SHOW
This week is the last week of school in the
Lancaster School District, so it has been decided
to NOT offer school programs on Friday to begin
the event.
FREE ICE ONSITE FOR REENACTORS
The Rock Ford Foundation is providing free ice.
These will be in 50-lb bags of ice, which will be
available in a refrigerated truck that will be
parked near Pavilion #11. Reenactors should go
to the truck with buckets pails, or bags to carry
the ice that they need for themselves. The ice is
free, but please only take what you need, as we
do not have a way to obtain more easily if we run
out.
The Rock Ford Foundation will host a dance
for us Saturday night in their lovely 18th C.
historic barn. George Tolton will be the caller
with live dance music upstairs by Inishowen—
though other musicians are welcome to join in,
while the downstairs will be a tavern, with a
couple of kegs of free beer and soft drinks.
There will be some snacks put out by the site,
but we are asked to provide some additional party
foodstuffs for ourselves. Therefore, as we
successfully did at Mt. Harmon plantation, we
are asking each Regiment to bring a small platter
of some kind or some other type of party snack to
put out for our general enjoyment. We wound up
with quite a substantial buffet at Mt. Harmon
doing it this way and we expect the same here.
Beside the barn, there will be a pavilion tent
offering additional rain shelter and evening party
facilities.
EARLY ARRIVALS
There is no camping until the camps open on
Friday morning. Advanced party will be able to
set up cots in the barn for Thursday night.
Anyone planning on coming before Friday
morning MUST notify their quartermaster or
REENACTOR FLEA MARKET
After hours (time to be announced), there will
be a reenactor flea market / blanket sale. At this,
any BB or CL member can put wares out for sale
at no charge, to move their unwanted items to a
home where they will be wanted. Every member
can come to look for bargains. The sale will be
held on the grassy strip next to the road separateing the British and American camps.
FLUSH TOILETS
There will be plenty of porta-johns, but we
also has access to flush-toilet bathrooms (open
around the clock) just east of the two camps, as
well as at the Barn on the Plantation site.
PARKING
Parking will be to the west of the site with a
shuttle back to the camps. It is only a short walk,
so you may not want to wait for shuttle. RVs may
be parked there also in a small dedicated site.
