Every entrepreneur needs an “elevator pitch” that is clear, powerful and can tell your story in 60 seconds or less. Do you think you have what it takes? Register today for the “Gone in 60 Seconds” elevator pitch contest where $1,000 will be up for grabs on March 22 at 7 p.m. at Mellow Mushroom in Rogers. The contest is open to entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs who want to pitch their brightest ideas to local investors and business leaders. More than 200 people attended the event in October. Interested participants or sponsors should register online at www.innovatearkansas.org. Audience particiaption is free and encouraged, so come out and cheer on your favorite “elevator pitch.” Creating a Strong Sales Message Figure out what is unique about what you do. - The whole idea behind a great elevator pitch is to intrigue someone. It’s an icebreaker and a marketing pitch — all rolled into one. Make it exciting. - A superior elevator pitch increases your heart rate. It speaks to who you really are and what excites you about your business. It has integrity. What is it about your business that really motivates you? Incorporate that. Keep it simple. - A good elevator pitch doesn’t try and be all things to all people. Rather, it conveys a clear idea in a short amount of time. It might be a few sentences, but no more than a paragraph or so. Write it down. - Use the guidelines above and take a stab at it. Write down your pitch, say it out loud, re-write it, and then re-write it again. Practice, and the practice some more. - The first few times you try out your elevator pitch may be a bit uncomfortable, but it gets easier. After a while, it will become second nature to you, and when it does, you will be glad you practiced. Since the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010 employers have been looking for answers – what happens when and how do I comply? Many rely on their health insurance agents who have had limited training and limited time to find the answers to their clients’ questions. As a senior professional in human resources and Chartered Healthcare Consultant, and a guest faculty member of the University of Arkansas Global Campus, Cammie Scott has vigorously studied this act. Her presentation will include a Q&A so that you may get answers to your questions that may not be covered. Cost containment in an ever-changing benefit environment will be included in the discussion. This event is free, with registration required at www.RogersLowell.com. “Business-to-Business is my FAVORITE networking event by far!
