Manchester’s impressive retail development, the
Trafford Centre, created a high quality out-of-town
shopping experience for the Manchester region, which
now houses a number of quality stores including
Harvey Nichols and John Lewis.
The development of derelict land along Manchester’s
Ship Canal and Salford Quays aimed to revitalise the
area, attracting business and employment
opportunities for the retail and leisure sector.
The key challenges of the project were to create a
prestigious retail centre with modern surroundings and
pedestrian areas of high aesthetic appeal. Marshalls
supplied products for the main building, external
landscaping and entrance to the site complete with
drainage system.
Marshalls supplied in excess of two million bricks along
with large quantities of Tegula, Petrapave and
Conservation Kerb throughout the development.
Decorative brick panels were prefabricated off site by
Marshalls and shipped to the development for speed
and ease of construction.
Petrapave Sealed Paving System provided protective
paving for the petrol station forecourt, due to its unique
ability to prevent liquid contaminants penetrating
below the pavement surface.

Birco Linear Drainage System was also supplied
throughout, with Beany Block Combined Kerb and
Drainage System around the coach and bus area.
Marshalls’ specialists worked closely with architects and
engineers and provided essential technical information
and on-site supervision.
