VIMAC is a company with long experience in installations in
different sectors. Its origins go back to the beginning of the
twentieth century. Since then it has advanced with society,
keeping up with its needs and adapting to the new technologies.
It offers its considerable experience in installations and
maintenance in the electric, electromechanical, industrial,
telecommunications, railway and hydraulic sectors.
It has an infrastructure capable of undertaking large and highly
technical projects, and has its own technology in the railway
and telecommunication fields.
Its technical team is involved in research projects developing
new products and innovative solutions making use of new
materials and advanced technologie.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
• Development of overhead contact system analyser plate
The Overhead Contact System is a component which, despite
the restricted access to the track areas, runs the risk of a
multitude of accidents, such as falling rays, breakages, short
circuits, the electrocution of persons or animals, etc. Therefore,
whatever the incident, it is important to react quickly to avoid
causing harm to persons or property.
• Development of Distributed Control
Created and development as a middle step between the
substation systems and the maintenance worker team to ensure a
good and safe working process of the substation.
• Development of protection manager for traction substations
The Protection Manager consists of a programmable
automaton (PLC) which functions completely independently of the
rest of the PLCs which make up the system. Its main function is
supervising the correct operation of the installation, focusing on
safety. The main parameter which makes the Protection Manager
so efficient is the response speed between the fault diagnosis and
the action, which is less than 4 milliseconds. As a result, a
multitude of potential disasters are avoided, in which nonsuppression of the fault would result in the total destruction of the
affected equipment, or even a fire in the whole installation
• Development of demo fitting platform for operation and formation
of distributed control substations.
The development of this system is very complex, and along
with the fact that the final installations are extremely important,
this becomes a critical factor. For this reason, it would be
desirable to have a location for testing where we could carry out
checks of the system which are as similar as possible to a real
installation, and which allow us to have guarantees on the
developed system before its real introduction.

technical and human media necessary to respond to all the
needs that come up in the Integral Water Cycle, from
project development to final execution of construction.

construction in which the premise of Quality Assurance in all

QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT
A pioneer in Andalusia in creating a Quality Department,
Vimac received the UNE-EN-ISO 9002 certificate for quality
in 1995.
Later it also was also certified by AENOR with Certificate nº
ES-412/1/95, verifying correct application and operation as
per the UNE-ENN-ISO 9000 DE 2000 standard.
In its internal planning, Vimac has decided on and continues
to insist on continued training at all levels, so that all the
members of the company are not only linked to quality
parameters, but have the knowledge to efficiently put them
into practice.

PREVENTION
In the belief that Human Capital is the basic pillar of our
organization, Vimac insists on the latest and most modern
systems of occupational accident prevention.
At Vimac an exhaustive control both a priori in the purchase
of individual protection equipment, collective protective
measures, related documentation, etc., and during the work
itself, with periodic visits, to check that not only legal
requirements are complied with, but all those measures
considered advisable to maximize the safety of the worker.
The continued training of workers in prevention of accidents
is another of the company's constant measures, to increase
knowledge and awareness of the people involved.
It should be pointed out that the atmosphere transmitted by
the company's management and its constant concern for the
safety of its workers have made it possible for us to reach
safety levels far above the sector average, which satisfies us
and encourages us not to become careless and to continue
working hard to maintain and even to increase our level of
safety.

• PROTECTION RELAYS
The VIMAC Development Department has just completed the
Protection Management project. It is the first product
completely developed in this department and we hope that it
is just the beginning of VIMAC as a TECHNOLOGY
SOLUTIONS company.
This relay was conceived and developed to protect traction
power substations, but is easily applicable to similar facilities
such as Transformation Centres, and extendable to a
multitude of applications such as domotics.
It monitors the critical elements in a substation, initiating an
entire sequence of safety actions to detect anything that
might not be working properly, with a response time of less
than 4 milliseconds, which reduces the time in which human
and material losses could occur due to malfunctioning of the
substation.
