Welcome to WorldFinds - I am so glad you found us! My passion
for social justice led me to start a business to create positive
change in the world. I was inspired by time I spent in India and
Nepal back in 1999, and felt compelled to do something to help.
After learning about fair trade, I knew that was the answer to
what I was searching for: a way to impact impoverished
communities and truly make a difference.
Beginning in a basement with little capital and a lot of
determination, WorldFinds has grown into an established brand of
ethically-sourced jewelry, accessories and gift items. We have an
amazing team and love what we do, working closely with artisans,
designing new products, and showing people that you can make
a difference in the world with a choice as simple as the pair of
earrings you decide to buy.
Each artisan visit gives me the chance to see the impact of our
work firsthand and each new milestone reached: jagged roads are
now paved, health care centers have opened, girls are enrolled in
school, women and their families have opportunities not available
to them before, as well as unlimited hope for the future.

The Story of our Recycled Textiles
Our recycled textile accessory collection is growing! We love the rich history behind these unique fabrics, as well as the beautiful, modern accessories they create.
Repurposed textiles help the environment while preserving traditional craftworks, as well as providing opportunity for artisans. Our four distinctive materials originate
in different regions of India and each has a story:

Phulkari means "flower work" in Punjabi - this highly textured
fabric has a unique mix of floral motifs and geometric
pattern. It is distinctive in that the entire surface of
the cloth is covered with embroidery. As a traditional
handicraft created solely by women for their personal
use, Phulkari is reflective of everyday life with scenes of
the natural world and abstract patterns.
Kutch embroidery originates from an isolated region of the same
name, based in India's Gujarat State. The traditional
"mirror work" of Kutch embroidery is actually a fusion
of several distinct regional styles that are closely linked
to community and social status. The variety of these
traditional patterns lead to the bold mix of motifs and
stitches in Kutch Textiles.
Balochi is a traditional technique incorporating different
textures, patterns and mirror embellishments,
patchworked together for a beautiful tapestry-like
look. It originated in Balochistan and is now also found
in Rajasthan in northern India. It is considered to be
an ancient art, with similar motifs found on pottery
excavated from the neolithic site of Mehrgarh.
Kantha, our most widely used textile is celebrated for its versatility. Kantha textiles are created by connecting well-worn
cotton sari's with a distinctive running stitch to form
a soft quilt. This art form has been passed down for
generations from mother to daughter. The abundance
of these textiles makes it the perfect material for
converting into colorful, durable accessories.

over the past 15 years are at the core of our business. We
work with a mix of World Fair Trade Organization members
and smaller groups of artisan cooperatives. Our designs
are handmade with sustainable materials, using traditional
skills that support communities in need.
Impact
With each artisan visit we see the impact of fair trade. The
powerful changes reverberate through their communities:
there’s increased access to healthcare, more girls are
attending school, micro loans and business training are
available, roads are paved, and water is safe to drink.
