jewellery (rings, watches, etc.) when using the tool. Loose clothing can get
caught in moving parts and pull the operator in.
7. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION.
8. ALWAYS unplug the power cord from the electric outlet when making
adjustments, changing parts, cleaning or working on the tool.
9. AVOID ACCIDENTAL START-UPS. Verify that the power switch is in the
OFF position before plugging in the power cord.
10. DO NOT abuse the power cord. Do not use it to carry the tool. Keep the power
away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Replace a damaged power cord

Specific Safety Rules for Garden
Shredders
1. IF YOU ARE NOT thoroughly familiar with the operation of the shredder,
call the toll-free helpline, at 1-866-523-5218.
2. DO NOT put your hands into the hopper. Always use the push stick that is
provided with the shredder to push items into the hopper.
3. DO NOT try to force objects that exceed the recommended diameter and
capacity of the shredder: 1 5/8" (41cm)
4. AVOID ACCIDENTAL START-UPS. Verify that the switch is in the OFF
postion before plugging in the shredder.
5. DO NOT FORCE THE SHREDDER. It will do the job better and with less
likelihood of injury if it is used at the rate that it was designed to work at.
6. Before putting material into the hopper, remove any stones, debris, or
objects that could damage the blades.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
IN THE EVENT OF A MALFUNCTION OR BREAKDOWN, grounding provides
the path of least resistance for electric current and reduces the risk of electric
shock. This tool is equipped with a power cord that has an equipment
grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug MUST be plugged into a
matching outlet that is properly installed and grounded, in compliance with ALL
local codes and ordinances.
DO NOT MODIFY THE PLUG OF THE GARDEN SHREDDER. If it will not fit into
the outlet, have the proper type of outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
IMPROPER CONNECTION of the equipment grounding conductor can result
in electric shock. The conductor with the green insulation (with or without yellow
stripes) is the equipment grounding conductor. If it is necessary repair or replace
the power cord or the plug, DO NOT connect the equipment grounding
conductor to a live terminal.
If you do not completely understand the grounding instructions, or if you are not sure
whether the tool is properly grounded, consult a qualified electrician or call the
toll-free helpline, at 1-866-523-5218.

⁄! WARNING: THIS LAWN TOOL IS INTENDED FOR OUTDOOR USE
ONLY. DO NOT EXPOSE TO RAIN, DO NOT USE IT IN DAMP LOCATIONS.
GUIDELINES FOR USING EXTENSION CORDS
Verify that the extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension
cord, be sure to use one that is heavy enough to carry the current that this product
will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage which will result resulting
in loss of power and overheating. The table below shows the correct size to be used
according to the length of the cord and nameplate amperage rating. When in doubt,
use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord.

Not Recommended
Verify that the extension cord is properly wired and in good condition. Always
replace a damaged extension cord or have it repaired by a qualified person
before using it. Keep extension cords away from sharp objects, excessive
heat and damp or wet areas.
Use a separate electrical circuit for power tools. This circuit consist of not less
than a #12 wire, and should be protected by a 15 A time delayed fuse. Before
plugging the power cord into the outlet, verify that the switch is in the OFF
position and the electric current is rated the same as the current stamped on
the motor nameplate. Operating the tool at a lower voltage will damage the motor.
⁄! WARNING: THIS TOOL MUST BE GROUNDED WHILE IN USE IN
ORDER TO PROTECT THE OPERATOR FROM ELECTRICAL SHOCK.

Operation - continued
Shredding yard waste (Fig. 8)
The shredder is designed to shred leaves, yard waste and debris, and
sticks and twigs up to 1 5/8" (41mm) in diameter. The shredded material will
accumulate directly on the ground under the shredder .
CAUTION : Do not attempt to shred material that exceeds the capacity of the
shredder .
1.
Turn the shredder ON.
2.
Place sticks in the narrow
opening of the hopper .
3.
Use the round push stick to push
the debris toward the blade. Do not
feed sticks that have a diameter
of more than 1 5/8" (41 mm).
4.
Turn the shredder OFF, and allow it
to come to a complete stop.
Fig. 8
Ú ! WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO SHRED ANY MATERIAL THAT EXCEEDS
THE CAP ACITY OF THIS TOOL. DOING SO MAY CAUSE THE MOTOR TO JAM
AND OVERHEAT.DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS INSIDE THE HOPPER OR NEAR
THE BLADE WHEN THE TOOLIS RUNNING.
13
! WARNING:TURN OFF THE SHREDDER AND UNPLUG THE POWER
CORD FROM THE OUTLET BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE.
BLADE MAINTENANCE
The shredder has two blades that are attached to a rotating support. When one
side of a blade becomes dull, it can be turned over in order to use the other side.
Dull blades can be replaced or properly sharpened.
Replace a blade

be opened.
3. Lift up the housing cover in order to
expose the two blades (1).
4. Place a 6 mm wrench (2) onto one
of the four 6 mm bolts below the
blade support (3) in order to secure it
and stop it from rotating.
5. Use the other 6 mm wrench(4) to
loosen and remove the two
screws (5) that hold each blade to the support.
6. Lift out the old blade. Either reinsert the blade with the sharp edge in
position as the cutting surface or insert a replacement blade.
7. Replace and tighten the two screws in order to secure the new blade to the support.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
1 For maximum performance and longevity, keep the shredder clean and in good
working condition.
2 Inspect the switch and the cord for damage before each use.
3 Check for damaged, missing, or worn parts. Check for loose screws, moving
parts that are jammed, or any other conditions that may affect the operation.
4 If abnormal vibration or noise occurs, turn the shredder OFF immediately and have
the problem corrected before further use.
5 Do not use the shredder until it is properly repaired or replaced.
14
