HISTORY OF DONZIMARINE
Donzi Marine was founded in 1963 by Don Aronow "King ofThunderboat
Road"
After retiring from a successful career in real estate at the age of 30,
Don Aronow moved to South Florida and spent the rest of his life using
his creative energy to pioneer performance boating. Aronow's driving
determination fueled one of the most exciting decades in boating history.
Don was personally responsible for such great names as Donzi,
Magnum, Formula, Cigarette, Aronow Powerboats and Squadron XII.
Boats designed and manufactured by Don Aronow have won over 350
International races , eleven World Championships, and still holds at least
25 world speed records.
Don was interested in superior performance rather than mass production.
Why the Donzi name? Morris Levy, head of Roulette Records in New
York and a close family friend, joked with Don about being cited in Esquire
Magazine for a classy interior design with the Formula 23 foot. The
implication was that it was not the most macho of honors. Levy said,
Geez Donnie, I guess we'll have to start calling you "Donsy". So "Donsy"
became "DONZI MARINE" shortly after FORMULA MARINE was sold.
It was in November 1964 Miami-Key West race that the new Donzis
exploded onto the offshore racing circuit. The "Donzi Doozy' a 28 footer
powered with twin 427 interceptors, ran second overall in the 6 to 8 foot
seas .
The Donzi Racing Team became known as those "Damned Donzis".
The production facil ities of the little shop on 188th street was being
tested to the max. Orders for Donzi 16s, 19s and 28s began flying in
from all around the world.
The 16 foot Donzi had become known as the "Jaguar of Sport Boats"
appearing at the 1965 New York Boat Show.
American Marine Holdings, one of the most predominant forces in the
marine industry, acquires Donzi Marine from OMC in October of 1993.
Immediately Donzi introduces an innovative line of family boats called
the medallions, these models offer features and benefits never before
seen.
The all new "ZX" line was introduced in August of 1994. Like its
predecessors, the 22 , 25, 27, 33 and 38ZX immediately became a
success.
The company currently builds over 16 different models from 16' to 38' at
the production facility in Sarasota, Florida.
Mike Collins, President of Donzi, attributes the company's success to
consistent innovations and improvement in design, maintaining the
highest standards of quality at an affordable price and listen ing to the
retail customer.

DONZI• Fully integrated "In-House" design/tooling/manufacturing means
fresh, innovative models and styling.
• Donzi uses just the right amount of "Neste Maxguard" premium
gelcoat for high gloss retention, for long lasting beautiful finishes .
• All Donzis are hand-laid for maximum strength and durability.
• Only high tech biaxial fiberglass is used in the lay up of Donzi boats
for maximum strength and superior 2 to 1 fiberglass-to-resin ratio,
resulting in strong, lightweight performance boats.
• All stringers and transoms are installed while the part is still in the
mold for perfect alignment and fit.
• Donzi laminates backing material into every hull and deck where
hardware will be installed. On Classics and ZX models, Donzi uses
marine-grade wood backing, on Medallions and LXC models, only
Divinycell foam core is used. This adds backing support to all thrubolted hardware and prevents screws from loosening by giving them
something to bite into. Unlike the competition, these screws will still
be tight a year later.
• Donzi fuel tanks are manufactured using only the highest quality
welded aluminum. Donzi fuel tanks are pressure tested up to 7 lbs.
per square inch, three times before the boat can leave the plant,
which ensures years of trouble-free service.

contemporary styled exterior, with a highly functional modular interior,
utilizing state-of-the-art construction, delivering a boat that is timeless,
with all of the options built in as standards.
• All Donzi Medallions and LXC models utilize fiberglass integrated
structural technology (F.I.S.T.) construction which has no wood in
hull construction, therefore you do not have to worry about rotten
stringers or transom rot. All stringers and transoms are constructed
using high density Divinycell foam core. Divinycell foam core is used
for maximum strength and performance with a significant weight
savings over wood. Our Divinycell foam core is stronger and lighter
that wood, but it does not rot like wood does.
• Cabin boats also have a full fiberglass liner. This adds structural
integrity and makes cleaning easier.
• Donzi Medallions and LXC models feature low maintenance, wood·
free interior components which are easily removable for cleaning
and storage.
• Donzi Medallion engine compartments have a finished fiberglass liner
that has great looks and makes cleaning easier.
• All Medallions and LXC models have deep interior freeboard. This
guarantees a safe day on the water, especially in rough seas.
• The Medallions and LXC models utilize 316L marine grade stainless
steel for longer life and less rusting and pitting.
• Donzi's hull and deck are joined together using polyester bonding
putty and epoxy coated stainless fasteners. The seam is then filled
with polyurethane sealant to prevent leakage.
• The cuddy cabins and mid-berth models feature the largest interiors
of any boats in their class, with standard amenities usually found as
an option on much larger vessels.
• All Donzi parts are allowed to completely cure in the molds to prevent
any distortion. This takes time and costs money but excellence is
expected from Donzi.
• The Medallions and LXC models bring you everything you could want
in a boat: comfort, performance, style, resale, value and only from
Donzi.
• All screws are pre-drilled and filled with marine silicone to ensure a
proper seal and to prevent the fasteners from loosening.
ClASSIC-
• All Donzi wiring is color-coded, heavy gauge wiring that meets or
exceeds NMMA & ABYC requirements.
• Donzi Classic striping is done only in gelcoat, not tape for years of
long lasting good looks.
• All wiring is neatly routed and wrapped in loom to prevent chafing .
All wiring connections are sealed with heat shrink tubing to
permanently protect the connections from the elements. Donzi always
takes the extra step to ensure years of trouble-free service.
• Donzi engine mounts are thru-bolted through the stringers for rigid
mounting ensuring optimum performance and longevity.
• On Donzi Classics, stringer systems and transoms are made with
the highest care. First the wood is resin saturated. After the installation
of the stringers and transom, biaxial fiberglass is applied to totally
encapsulate the entire system . The benefits of this elaborate process
are twofold: it seals the wood and protects it from the elements
forever; it also adds structural integrity to the entire structure.
• Donzi cockpit upholstery is a hefty 32 oz. U.V. protected vinyl and all
canvas is 5 year warranted Sunbrella fabric ensuring years of good
looks and use.
• Donzi Classic decks and liners are cored with Baltek AL600 balsa
coring for additional strength and rigidity without adding a significant
amount of weight. Baltek AL600 is epoxy coated, end grain balsa;
the highest quality, strongest and most durable balsa coring available.
• All Donzi hulls are designed with deep vees to give the customer
better performance.
• Donzi Classic engine compartments are finished in Maxguard gelcoat
for long lasting good looks and easy clean-up.
• Donzi Marine offers the best warranties in the industry, which ensures
years of worry-free boating.

a 10 Year transferable hull warranty, which makes the LXC the
best backed boats in the marine industry.
The Donzi Team came up with the idea of combining a contemporary styled exterior, with a highly functional interior, utilizing
state-of-the-art construction, delivering a boat that is timeless,
with all the options built in as standards.
All Donzi 255 and 275 utilize fiberglass integrated structural technology (F.I.S.T.) construction which has no wood in hull construction, therefore you do not have to worry about rotten stringers or transom rot. All transoms are constructed using high
density Divinycell foam core. Divinycell foam core is used for
maximum strength and performance with a significant weight
savings over wood . Our Divinycell foam core is stronger and
lighter than wood, but it does not rot like wood does.
All cabin boats have a full fiberglass liner. This adds structural
integrity and makes cleaning easier. Donzi LXC feature low
maintenance, interior components, which are easily removable
for cleaning and storage. All LXC have deep interior freeboard.
This ensures a safe day on the water, especially in rough seas.
The LXC utilize 316L marine grade stainless steel for longer life
and less rusting and pitting. These mid-berth models feature
the largest interiors of any boats in their class, with standard
amenities usually found as an option on much larger vessels.

Donzi stands behind the quality and
workmanship of the Classics featuring a full "5" year
warranty. The Classic's striping is done only in
gelcoat, not tape for years of long-lasting good
looks. The Classic's stringer systems and transoms
are made with the highest care. The stringers and
transoms are coated with resin and totally
encapsulated in fiberglass which seals the wood
and protects it from the elements. The Classic's
decks and liners are cored with Baltek AL600 balsa
coring for additional strength and rigidity with out
adding a significant amount of weight. BaltekAL600
is epoxy coated, end grain balsa; the highest quality,
strongest and most durable balsa coring available.
The Classics engine compartments are finished in
gelcoat for long-lasting good looks and easy cleanup. Today's Classics feature race-proven 24 degree
vee hulls for the best performing boats on the water.
Classics are a great value and a great investment

Donzi stands behind the quality and workmanship
of the ZX boats by offering a full five year warranty. The
ZX boats utilize race-proven 22 and 24 degree deep vee
hulls for excellent performance. Custom paint jobs are
available to personalize each boat for its owner. In house
artists and designers are available to customize and
coordinate color design schemes. Select ZX Cabins have
a full fiberglass inner liner for structural strength and
sound deadening in rough seas. Engine compartments
are finished in gelcoat for long lasting good looks and
easy clean-up. Both Mercruiser and Volvo Engines are
available so you can choose your power plant to power
the awesome ZX boats. The hull bottom and sides are
cored with Baltek AL600 for extra strength and durability.
A fiberglass liner makes the engine room easier to clean
as well as adding stiffness and strength. Mercruiser's
silent choice exhaust is standard on the 33 and 38 ZX
boats which will allow you to rumble or roar. All engine
mounts are thru-bolted to the stringer system for
additional support, safety and performance. All ZX boats
offer more cabin headroom than any boat in its class.
