A duct-mounted temperature probe used to provide capacity
control of heating and cooling equipment.
• Used only with Honeywell Networked Zoning.
• Mounts in the supply air duct to sense the delivered air temperature
and cuts off the heating or cooling when the delivered air temperature
goes above or below normal operating limits.
• Compares discharge air temperature to the room temperatures and,
if out of tolerance, a heating or cooling alert is issued.

Using A By-Pass Damper
In these applications, a damper is used to bypass excess
airflow from the supply duct into the return duct or into a dump
zone. On systems up to five tons, a Static Pressure
Regulating Damper (SPRD) is used; on larger systems, a
Modulating Automatic Round Damper (MARD) is used with a
Static Pressure Switch (SPC) for static pressure regulation.
Size supply duct systems to handle the total airflow when all
zones are open while using a damper to bypass any excess
air when only the smallest zone is calling. Bypass the excess
air into the return air duct or dump it into a hallway, false
ceiling, or basement. Size the bypass by subtracting the cfm
of the smallest zone from the total system cfm. For example,
on a four-ton (1600 cfm) system, with the smallest zone
designed to handle only 300 cfm, the bypass must be
designed to handle 1300 cfm airflow.

As the zone dampers open, the air pressure in the system
decreases. This reduction of air pressure automatically closes
the SPRD. As zone dampers close, the air pressure increases
and the SPRD automatically opens, bypassing the excess
airflow from the system.
This method of duct design is also a great way to control
excess humidity in the home, especially in Southern climates.
Bypassing air from the supply duct into the return duct
accelerates the dehumidification ability of the equipment,
creating greater homeowner comfort.
