THE CORE OF
SUPERBIKE PHILOSOPHY
Performance, emotions, adrenaline. Ducati Superbikes
translate racing experience into ground-breaking technology.
Channelling every effort into outdoing the competition,
lightness and performance are taken beyond all customary
limits. The very essence of Ducati philosophy, an explosive
mix of Italian style and sporting attitude, composed of
the Superquadro engine, monocoque frame and constant
technological innovation.
5
SHEER POWER
Premium materials and race-engineered solutions make
up the world’s most advanced production twin-cylinder
engine, the Ducati Superquadro. Heir to Ducati’s
splendid tradition as a motorcycle manufacturer, the
Superquadro, with its characteristic layout, drives this
powerful heritage to perfection. Proof of its maturity, the
Superquadro is available in 955 cc , 1285 cc and 1198 cc
displacements, to be found respectively on the new
959 Panigale, the 1299 Panigale and the Panigale R.
7
THE ESSENCE
OF LIGHTNESS
The merging of form and function. The aluminium
monocoque frame is revolutionary, essential and ultralight, and uses the Superquadro engine as a loadbearing
element. By reducing the weight and increasing the
strength, this greatly enhances the handling of the
motorcycle. And thanks to its innovative design, the
chassis also acts as the airbox, making it the most
advanced technical solution on the market.
9
STATE-OF-THE-ART
ELECTRONICS
Cutting-edge technologies are at the heart of the
Ducati Superbike family, starting with the new 959
Panigale which features Bosch ABS, Full Rideby-Wire, Ducati Traction Control, Engine Braking
Control, Riding Modes and Ducati Quick Shift. To
this package is added, on the 1299 Panigale, a quick
shifter which functions also during downshifts, and
the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit which enables
Cornering ABS functionality for maximum safety
through curves. The IMU also allows Ducati Wheelie
Control, which controls front wheel lift for incredible
acceleration. The 1299 Panigale S adds even higherlevel componentry such as Öhlins Smart EC semiactive suspension and steering damper, together
with handlebar-mounted auxiliary switches enabling
adjustments to the electronics while riding. Finally, the
Panigale R confirms its racing genetics by including
the GPS-enabled Ducati Data Analyzer +, which also
records lean angle.
13
OUT-OF-THIS
WORLD DESIGN
Unmistakeably modern, aerodynamic design. A masterful blend of
panache and performance. Born out of a tradition that has seen Ducati
win major design awards, such as the prestigious Compasso d’Oro,
the Panigale family is the essence of style. A wider front fairing with
larger air intakes gives greater aerodynamic protection and boosts
airflow to the engine, while a new split tail makes the rear of the
motorcycle even more aggressive.
THE PERFECT BALANCE
The fine balance between performance and control that every supersport motorcycle strives to achieve
reaches its pinnacle in the new 959 Panigale. All combined in a unique design, which hallmarks the bike
as an immediately recognizable member of the Ducati Superbike family. Lightweight and ready to thrill,
thanks to its new 955 cc Superquadro engine and exclusive monocoque frame that ensure great handling
and precision control. High level componentry such as a Brembo monobloc braking system with Bosch
ABS, a slipper clutch, a Showa BPF fork and fully adjustable Sachs rear monoshock, and Riding Modes
and Ducati Quick Shift all provide maximum control and safety.
17
ADVANCED CHASSIS DESIGN
Starting with the key geometrical elements of the chassis, balanced
perfection has been achieved on the new 959 Panigale. The swingarm pivot
has been lowered by 4 mm and the wheelbase is now 5 mm greater than
before, improving the motorcycle’s handling. Further, new machined-frombillet aluminium footpegs provide even better grip for a confident riding
experience.
19
POWER TO CONTROL
A fully stressed member of the frame, the
Superquadro belonging to the new 959 Panigale
is ready to deliver excellent torque and heaps of
power throughout the rev range. Tapping into this
power reserve can easily be controlled and thanks
to Ducati Traction Control, the rear tyre always grips
the tarmac during acceleration. A new slipper clutch
together with Engine Braking Control eliminate
wheel hop during aggressive downshifts, ensuring
the motorcycle’s stability during even the fastest
riding.
21
NUMBERS
THAT COUNT
Distinctive design and innovative technology are the
hallmarks of the 1299 Panigale. With a record-breaking
bore of 116 mm, the 1285 cc Superquadro engine
packs an unprecedented punch for a production twincylinder, topping 205 hp and delivering 144.6 Nm
of torque. Dry weight is a mere 166.5 kg, thanks to
the compact, lightweight aluminium monocoque
frame. A fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and Sachs
rear monoshock, together with the Brembo braking
system with M50 monobloc callipers, complete the
chassis. The Bosch IMU manages Cornering ABS
and Ducati Wheelie Control functionality. Further the
1299 Panigale also features Ducati Traction Control,
Engine Braking Control and Ducati Quick Shift which
enables clutchless gear changes during both upshifts
and downshifts. To complete the generous array of
features, the instrument panel with full colour TFT
display provides useful data, including the bike’s lean
angle.
EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE
Built to handle both track and road, the 1299 Panigale S features the exclusive semi-active Öhlins Smart EC suspension system with an NIX30 fork and
TTX36 shock absorber, plus an electronic steering damper. Event Based mode ensures real-time adaptation of hydraulic suspension dampers to different
stages of riding: making the switch from extreme on-track performance to safe, comfortable road riding instantaneous. Racing-type, handlebar-mounted
switchgear controls allow for flick-of-the-switch adjustments to Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control and Engine Braking Control, letting you
personalise the entire track experience. Forged wheels, carbon-fibre front mudguard and a full LED headlamp round off the exclusive, techy looks of the
“S” version.
25
R FOR RACING
Panigale R. Off-the-scale riding thrills. 205 hp from a twin-cylinder
engine within the confines of the 1200 cc displacement imposed
by Superbike regulations is impressive. Even more impressive is
the speed with which the Superquadro ramps up the revs in this
configuration. Road-legal, the R version sports Akrapovič titanium
exhausts, Öhlins mechanical suspension, a Lithium-ion battery and an
ultra-light headlamp to slash weight even further. The track-oriented
chassis includes the ability to optimise geometry by adjusting the
swingarm pivot, and fully adjustable suspension composed of an
NIX30 fork and TTX36 shock. The Ducati Data Analyzer (DDA + GPS)
with lean angle sensor completes the package: perfect for even the
most demanding riders, who want a real race bike with lights and a
number plate, as shown by its special Ducati Corse livery.

RECORD PERFORMANCE,
UNQUESTIONABLE
RELIABILITY
Astonishing performance is accompanied by an unmitigated degree
of reliability. This all comes from constant, focused research into
materials, close attention to detail, and design and production
phases of the highest standards. On the new Ducati Superquadro,
Desmo Service, which includes valve clearance inspection and
possible adjustment, is only necessary every 24,000 km (15,000
miles). A huge interval for such a high-performance twin-cylinder
engine, confirming its exceptional nature also in terms of reliability.
