About Us:
Hydra Fishing, LLC (“Hydra”) was established in 2005 with the primary focus of the sale
and manufacture of fishing rods and components for freshwater and inshore fishing
markets. Strategic partnerships formed allow Hydra the ability to meet customer needs
with innovative, proprietary products. These products include finished rods, rod guides,
grips, reel seats, and rod blanks. The NG Series of rod blanks are manufactured in the
USA at our partner location and other parts are sourced from various international suppliers.
Hydra’s current client base includes end users (anglers), private label rod retailers, large
fishing rod manufacturers, and custom rod builders.
Hydra’s niche is bass fishing. Being based in South Carolina, we’re located less than two
hours from Lake Murray, Clarks Hill Lake, Lake Hartwell and the famous Santee Cooper
Lakes – all hosts to major competitive bass fishing events and championships. We spend
our time in bass boats. You aren’t going to see a bunch of pictures of salmon, halibut,
snook, or other fish. When you need a spy baiting or flick shake rod – we’ll know what
you’re talking about and will have the right set of components to recommend.

Rod Blank Technology
Hydra Fishing, LLC introduces Scrimless Fiber Design (SFD) to reduce energy robbing materials used in rod blank
construction and push fishing rod performance to the highest levels demanded by today’s top anglers.
SFD represents a completely new approach to rod blank design and construction by eliminating the use of a
fiberglass or carbon paper scrim. By not utilizing the customary fiberglass and/or carbon paper scrim
traditionally used in rod blanks, blanks featuring SFD are void of these vibration dampening lower modulus
materials. This provides a platform for crisp vibration transmission and increased blank responsiveness. High
quality linear carbon fiber cloth that is up to 29% thinner and 9% lighter than traditional materials is paired with
an exact resin matrix mix to create a durable composite that after high pressure rolling is 4% tighter than
previous designs. Hoop strength is maintained through our proven proprietary design that ensures rods won’t
fail during an epic fish fight. Rod blanks built using SFD have higher final average modulus ratings and are some of
the lightest, most sensitive and durable blanks available today.
SFD is the result of a multi-year development effort and is immediately available through Hydra NG Series rod
blanks which are manufactured in the USA. Blanks feature an ultra thin matte finish for protection and neutral
appearance. Models are available in a host of over 80 popular actions, powers and lengths.
Hydra NG Series rod blanks are currently available from Bingham Enterprises and directly from Hydra. Blanks
are available for both custom rod builders and SFDOEM customers.

Z Guides (Pat. P) - “Z” & “ZH”
Kigan Z Guides answer the need.
Braided line has the unique characteristics of being highly pliable and having little to
no stretch. As a result, this increases the chances for line fouling and increases the
amount of pressure transferred to rod guides. Kigan Z Guides are specifically
designed to address these issues in both standard and micro guide sizes.
Kigan Z Guides improve on existing zero
tangle theory by removing the potential
for line interference. Kigan’s 3D press
method (US Pat. 8,333,030) allows the guide legs and ring frame to be
designed separately. They are then pressed from one piece of metal to
produce a guide where line is not able to wedge between the ring frame
and guide leg. In addition, Z guides have a very aggressive forward tilt to
shed line easier.
The Z guide incorporates a two step projection on running sizes for increased wrapping
strength without increasing guide weight. This helps address the energy transfer demands

Kigan Micro Zero Tangle “MZ” Top Guides and “Z” Standard Guides
Kigan MZ Top Guides are ideally designed to provide strong, braced tip tops
compatible with all of today’s micro guide systems. The MZ top is quickly proving to
be the gold standard in micro tip top design.
Kigan Z Top Guides have become a favorite on casting and spinning rods due to their
outstanding performance and sleek design.
Design is mindful of both strength and aesthetics. It incorporates Kigan’s 3D design providing incredibly strong
ring/frame bonds. Braces are short for increased strength and reduced side impact damage. The brazing of the
braces into the side of the tube eliminates the hang points found on other tops. This innovative design offers a zero
tangle tip top design.
SF Casting Guides - “C”
Kigan Single Foot Casting “C” Guides
Kigan C Guides were developed to answer the needs of rod builders worldwide.
These guides boast Kigan’s patented 3D design and correct calculation of the bend
radius from foot to guide ring eliminating guide shearing. C Guides are easy to wrap,
have room for locking wraps, and astoundingly low failure rates.

Kigan CD Guides are the perfect choice for heavy casting rod running guides and fly
rod stripper guides. CD Guides are often used on light casting rods as stripper
guides, giving perfect complement when using C Guides as running guides.
As with all Kigan offerings, CD Guides utilize Kigan’s patented 3D press method of
construction which allows significant advantages in ring/frame bond longevity while
remaining light in overall weight.

Kigan CHD Guides are designed for use on heavy powered casting and spinning
rods.
Guide train set up is easy as CHD Guides can drop into almost any existing guide
train to replace C guides.

Kigan S Guides are designed for use on light and medium spinning rods and are perfectly matched with C Guides as runners. The split leg frame design takes advantage
of Kigan’s 3D press method to produce a lighter weight than comparative guides.
XLA Hookkeeper—”XLA”
Kigan Hookkeeper
Designed for Kigan by Hydra, the XLA hookkeeper offers a lightweight, secure way
to hold loose baits. The front lip allows hook as large as a 7/0 flipping hook to pass
while the ported hole adds styling and security for small hooks that are too narrow
for standard use. Foot features protrusions for wrap security and the heavy stainless
steel resists corrosion and ensures long life.
