Kyle Maynard — Author, Entrepreneur and Athlete
Born with a condition known as congenital amputation, Kyle Maynard was taught by his parents to be as independent as possible —
beginning what Kyle calls his “pursuit of normalcy.” So, despite being born with arms that end at the elbows and legs near the knees,
he has wrestled for one of the best teams in the Southeast, set records in weightlifting, fought in mixed martial arts, and most recently
became the first man to crawl on his own to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Through the experiences of
his own journey, Kyle will teach you that there are no worthy excuses. No matter how challenging your difficulties may seem, everyone
has the ability to overcome and he will show you how.

Kyle will also participate in the presentation of the third annual MSCA Everyday Hero Award. In a short time, this award has become
a highly anticipated feature of the conference where one special person is recognized for his or her selfless contributions to their
community. There are many unsung heroes around us, many of whom are employees who often remain “under the radar” as they
passionately participate in activities that make a difference in the lives of others. The contributions of this individual will be celebrated

Houston Bauer College of Business and instructor for MSCA’s Sales Masters II program, will
introduce the Communication Model, and emphasize the importance of verbal and nonverbal

and techniques to help you effectively manage your messages as well as address topics such
as listening skills, body language, boundary-setting, and managing relationships.

people. Our leadership can get stuck from time to time and, oftentimes, we don’t even notice
as it’s happening. So, it’s imperative that we continually take time to reflect on and rethink
leadership. How else will we get the outcomes we really want?
Philosophies on leadership can be found just about anywhere, some of which we hold as
truths today. However, some of those messages are outdated, inaccurate, or simply untrue.
One myth is that leaders need to keep a distance between themselves and their employees –
to be their leader and not their friend. But, the truth is…
The higher the level of connection, the higher the level of
everything else. That includes:

Peer Group Roundtable Discussions
Tuesday, October 25 – Session #1: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Session #2: 2:30-4:00 p.m. Roundtable discussions give you the opportunity to talk about topics of interest and concern with your
peers. Together, these two sessions will help you connect to a larger vision for your company. During
these discussions, you will have plenty of time for interaction and information-sharing with peers and
leaders in the field. Each roundtable will focus on only one specific topic to ensure the dynamics of an
in-depth discussion are maintained.
Tuesday, October 25 – All-day event
Learn about the latest HVACR and plumbing products and
services at Supplier Partnership Day. The Exhibitors Display is your
opportunity to meet with the industry’s key suppliers one-on-one to
discuss your company’s needs in addition to other informal events
offered throughout the conference. The exhibit hall will be open in the
morning for a display and breakfast, in the afternoon for lunch, and
early evening for Happy Hour.
New this year, Session #1 will focus on “Getting to the Next Level,” and will include discussions
on particular issues, opportunities and resources specific to your company size. You will leave better
informed and equipped to excel to the next level. This roundtable includes a 30-minute debriefing
session to connect through ideas and learnings.

24th Annual MSCA/DEWALT Golf Tournament
Wednesday, October 26 —
12:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Host of the PGA TOUR’s fan-favorite Waste Management Phoenix Open, the Stadium Course
at TPC Scottsdale has held some of contemporary golf’s greatest moments since 1986. Test
your skills on the pristine fairways, which are maintained to tournament quality standards yearround. There’s no need to be intimidated by the Stadium Course. Players will find an ideally
balanced layout that blends challenge and playability, appealing to all levels of ability. This
tournament is open to golfers of all skill levels.
The cost is $95 per person, and includes box lunch, the green fee, cart fee, range balls,
tournament fee, bag tag, and yardage book. Registration is limited to the first 100 paid golf
registrations received. All registered attendees and spouses are welcome to play.
Horseback Riding Adventure
1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Not too long ago, horseback was the preferred form of transport in the Valley. Take a step back
in time and explore the Sonoran Desert from the saddle. Expert wrangler guides will lead you
into the heart of the desert where mountain ranges and desert plateaus will make you for
forget you’re so close to the city. Keep your eyes on the horizon, and you may be rewarded
with a glimpse of Arizona wildlife – from hawks, eagles and other birds of prey to the creatures
that roam the desert floor.
The cost is $100 per person, and includes the tour, roundtrip transportation, snacks
and bottled water. Note: There is a 230 lb. weight limit for any participant, and riders must be
eight (8) years of age or older.
Desert Hummer Tour
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Just minutes from Scottsdale, an H1 Hummer will place you in the middle of the historic
Goldfield Mountains, where you will experience exciting off-roading, towering cacti,
breathtaking views, and fascinating rock formations that you can reach out and touch. This
amazing vehicle will travel a narrow, chiseled trail while your experienced guide shares fun
and entertaining stories about the desert, cacti, wildlife, history, and geology. Halfway into
the trail, you’ll take a nature walk with your guide to take incredible photos. This is an off-road
adventure at its best.
The cost is $190 per person, and includes box lunch, roundtrip transportation, Hummer
tour, bottled water and soft drinks. Registration is limited. Note: Participants must wear
hiking boots or sneakers. Absolutely no open-toed shoes, sandals or flip-flops are allowed.
Hummers are not air-conditioned.
Frank Lloyd Wright Taliesin West Architectural Tour
1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
In 1937, famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built a remarkable set of structures
in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains known as Taliesin West. Set amid 600 acres of
Sonoran beauty in North Scottsdale, Taliesin West was Wright’s winter residence and studio,
and home of the Taliesin West Fellowship, a group of 23 young architectural “disciples” who
built the complex under Wright’s direction. In the 90-minute tour of this National Historic
Landmark, you will be drawn into Wright’s world with special trips into his living quarters and
the “Garden Room” among others.
The cost is $80 per person, and includes roundtrip transportation and special Insights
Tour. Registration is limited. Note: Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
4th Annual MSCA/Bradford White Sun Run
Thursday, October 27 – 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Get your blood pumping and heart racing while experiencing the beauty of The Princess’
65-acre property and the surrounding luxurious community during this 5K run/2-mile
walk. Enjoy the rising morning sun, scenery and, of course, some friendly competition
as you race to the finish line. Conference attendees and spouses are welcome to attend.
Participants will be timed, and the winners will be recognized. There will be water stations
and a continental breakfast at the finish line. This is a great way to get your energy revved
up for the last day of MSCA 2016.

Day of Giving and Community Wednesday, October 26 – 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Our popular annual Packing Party is fun for a cause. For the fourth year, we will
partner with Convoy of Hope to pack more than 70,000 meals for distribution to
the organization’s Children’s Feeding Initiatives, as we groove to tunes played by
featured entertainment. We hope you will lend a hand and have a great time with this
worthwhile cause.

Registered spouses are invited to attend all conference activities, including
the Opening Celebration, Welcome Reception, General Sessions, optional

The AAA-Five-Diamond Fairmont Scottsdale Princess provides the perfect setting to enjoy al

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess features five sparkling pool; a newly built 7,000 square-foot

a Trailblazer’s Kid’s Club and Family Adventure Center; distinctive retail shops; and specialty

The rate is offered three days prior to and three days after the conference for extended
stays, based on availability. Hotel reservations must be received by September 23, 2016, to
guarantee a room at the conference rate. Reservations are processed on a first-come-firstserve basis.
To make a hotel reservation, complete the room registration section of the conference form,
and submit it to MSCA. A credit card number is required to guarantee your room, but will not
be charged until check-in. You must cancel your reservation at least seven days prior to your
check-in date, or a penalty will be charged.

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is conveniently located about 25 minutes away from the
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX-Sky Harbor Intl.).
Early Bird Registration Available
The early bird member registration fee for MSCA 2016 is $1,300, if you register by July 31, 2016. Beginning August 1, the
cost is $1,400. Spouse registration is $575 (early bird rate until July 31) or $625 (regular rate beginning August 1).
