Setting crown in position Stops the Second Hand to allow synchronizing with a time signal. There are many accurate sources for this time signal including shortwave radio frequencies that continuously announce GMT (UTC) and the internet. Setting Date and GMT 3. GMT (Greenwich Median Time) is an international time standard originally established to facilitate oceanic navigation and is based on the time in Greenwich, England from which the remaining 23 global time zones are derived. GMT is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST) and 4 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) during Daylight Savings Time. So if the time is 0900 GMT, it is 4:00AM in New York City and 1:00AM in Los Angeles during Eastern Standard Time (EST), but during Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) it is 5:00AM in New York City and 2:00AM in Los Angeles. GMT is also referred to as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or Zulu Time (Z). During this time the date mechanism is engaged and adjusting it may cause damage to the gear. Setting Second Time Zone 4. The rotating bidirectional bezel allows for the setting of a second time zone in addition to the GMT 24 hour markers on the dial. The GMT hour hand indicates the second time zone on the bezel in 24 hour format also. Minutes and seconds are read on the dial’s minute and second hands. (2.14miles) I 6 I 8 5 To estimate the distance to an event (such as an explosion, muzzle flash, lightning, etc.), measure the time from the visual flash to the sound and multiply the seconds by the per second speed. 4 0 4 I 2 I 18 0 17 18 19 2 I 2222 I3 Therefore, at 68°F (20°C) sound will travel: 1 mile (1,760 yards / 5,280 feet) in 4.68 seconds 2.66 seconds 1,000 yards in 2.91 seconds 1 kilometer in Example: Sea level temp is 68°F and lightning to thunder measured time is 18 seconds. Distance of lightning strike point is: 18s x 1,129ft = 20,322ft 18s x 376yds = 6,768yds 18s x 344m = 6,192meters OR: 18s / 4.68s = 3.85 miles 18s / 2.66s = 6.77 thousand yards 18s / 2.91s = 6.18 kilometers Specifications COMBAT COMMAND AUTOMATIC GMT Technical Specifications ® SWISS Made, Modified ETA VALJOUX 7754 25-jewel automatic movement; 28.800 pulsations per hour; Incabloc anti-shock system; Nivaflex 1 spring, tight tolerances of adjustment. ® Minimum 42-hour power reserve. ® Chronograph: 60 seconds, 30 minutes & 12-hour elapsed time. ® Case in solid 316L stainless steel. ® Screw-locked crown & screw-in skeleton back. ® Bidirectional, ratcheted 24-hour GMT bezel. ® 2nd GMT time zone. ® Super-LumiNova advanced illumination system on hands & indexes. ® Sapphire distortion-free crystal. ® Water resistant to 100m/330 feet. ® Bracelet in solid 316L stainless steel. ® Deployment buckle with double lock security clasp. ® Serial numbered. ® Limited edition. ® 2 year limited international warranty. 7.
