ORGAN TRANSCRIPTIONS-ARRANGERS
In the nineteenth century churches served as concert halls. Recital programs often
included a large percentage of transcriptions and music for organ vocal [or instrumental]
soloists that complemented the "purely' organ pieces. For theater organs, an ocean of
arrangements consisting of popular tunes and patriotic songs was created.
[The below listed transcriptions, generally represent a selected list, and not the complete
oeuvre of the transcriber/performer.]

he made the organ function as a substitute orchestra; hence the numerous orchestral

C. H. Rinck's Practical Organ School. He was possibly the greatest organ virtuoso ofthe
19th century and was noted for his exceptional pedal technique and phenomenal ability
for improvisation. Successor to S. S. Wesley at St. Georges, Liverpool.
