Flushing saw its beginnings in the 1830’s when early settlers
recognized the value of the beautiful Flint River and the timber surrounding it.
Today, Flushing is a thriving community that cherishes its
past. Flushing residents are proud of their beautifully maintained homes, many of which are historic.
The 150 year old Parrish Community Center, originally a
church then the former City Hall, has been completely restored. This beautiful building now houses the Flushing
Chamber of Commerce Office as well as Goggins Hall, which
is available to the public for plays, recitals, dinner parties and
more.
Flushing offers entertainment, unique shopping experiences
and a variety of delicious meal options, sidewalk café dining,
canoe trips, and many beautiful parks.
Bring your family for a stroll along the Riverview Trail, visit The
Depot, our historical museum, and play in the play scape in
Riverview Park. Top it off with an old fashioned, hand-dipped
ice cream in a waffle cone.
Athletes appreciate the variety of options with tennis and
basketball courts, boat launch river access for fishing, kayaking and canoeing, and beautifully maintained paths for jogging, rollerblading and bicycling.
Music connoisseurs enjoy the variety available in our Concerts in the Park series, while car buffs love showing off their
classic cars and hot rods at our summer cruises.
We are located northwest of Flint, about six miles west of the

Art in the Park - June 7th
Riverview Park, Downtown Flushing

Art Show featuring over a hundred artists
displaying a multitude or art styles.
Relay for Life – June 13 – 14th
Riverview Park, Downtown Flushing
Relay for Life is American Cancer Society’s largest fundraising
event. The entire community is invited to join us. Events
include a Luminaria Ceremony at sundown on Friday night,
honoring loved ones lost to cancer, a survivor’s ceremony
and breakfast, honoring cancer survivors and their caregivers
on Saturday morning, during which the Flushing Firefighters
will cook a pancake breakfast.
Summer Festival - June 18 -22nd
Flushing’s largest family event of the year! Summer fun kickoff including: Parade, Carnival Midway, Duckie Race, Food,
Vendors, Band shell activities to entertain and more.
Red Hat Day - July 16th
Wear your red hat and join in for a fun-filled day in Flushing!
Gifts Bags, Door Prizes, Local Shopping Discounts, Live
Entertainment and Dining. Registration begins at 9:00AM at
the Flushing United Methodist Church located at 413 E. Main
Street in Flushing.

TWILIGHT TUESDAYS
June - August the downtown businesses stay open late on
Tuesdays. This year, each week local businesses will donate a
portion of their proceeds to the chosen charity/organization
for that week. This will also include sidewalk sales and activities for both children and adults.

Flushing Walleye Festival – March 13-15
St. Roberts Activity Center, 310 N. Cherry St.
This fun festival includes a two-day fishing tournament,
Friday night St. Roberts Boosters fish fry, firefighter’s pancake
breakfast, trout pond, informative speakers and demonstrations, Lion’s Club wild game dinner, and a Texas hold-em
tournament.
Art in the Park – June 6
Riverview Park, Downtown Flushing • 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Over a hundred artists will be displaying and selling their art.
A wide variety of art mediums and styles are showcased in
this wonderful event.
Summer Festival – June 10-14
Bring your family down for Flushing’s largest event of the
