adventures, and about his travels to visit daylily clubs.
Irish Halo. "Each of the 15 judges decided that it was noticeably
distinctive, and that, indeed, it was the "Best in the Show."
Hello DClylily Gardeners,
This spring we are so pleased to introduce CI collection of daylilies that should be a pleasure to own.
We are pClrticu1arly pleased with IRISH HALO Clnd EMERALD LACE. Indeed, it took me seven years to produce these two beauties. They are Cluthentic, hardy,
truly genuine, tall, "green edged" daylilies. You may
also like RED SAPPHIRE with its huge, red diamond eye, and shark's teeth on its petals.
Diana is also introducing her first daylily named
LEMON CURLS It, and VIRGIL'S SUSPENDERS,
should suit any gardener who prefers "unusual forms."
Then, there is the blue eyed, CARIBBEAN BLUE. Although it is an evergreen, it has grown well for us
through our winters.
Many of our friends, and particularly our friends
in the Chattahoochee Valley Daylily Society and in the
Arkansas State Daylily Society, really appreciate the
beauty of KELLEY'S VALENTINE. lts red eye along
with its red edged petals causes it to be very, very attractive'
The strong, emphatic, pink color of LITTLE BO
PINK causes this beauty to also demand respect.
Thanks to you, our customers, for growing our daylilies'
IRISH
HALO
[(Leslie Renee x Angels

x
(Leslie Renee x Angels
Gather
Around)).
Semi-evergreen.
Tetraploid.
Early
blooms. 30" tall, 4-way
branch ing, 20 buds, 5
Y/' flower. This is my
best green edged daylily. IRISH HALO has a deep green
throat, and a lovely ivory polychrome self: with a gorgeous
green edge that surrounds each of the petals. This spring I
entered IRISH HALO as a numbered seedling into the
competition at our annual Daylily Show. We had fifteen
(15) judges. IRISH HALO was selected as the best seedIing, then, it was judged to be the very best of the 496 dayIi Iies that were entered in the show. Each of the 15 judges
decided separately that IRISH HALO was unique, that it
was noticeably distinctive, and that, indeed, it was the
"Best in the Show." What better recommendation could
there be for a new introduction? You will truly appreciate
IRfSH HA LO because it has four-way branching, and buds
that are not crowded or overly concentrated. From the first
bloom to the last bloom, you will appreciate and adore this
unique creation. Pod and pollen fertile. $200.00.
EMERALD LACE. [(Leslie Renee x Angels Gather
Around) x (Leslie Renee x Angels Gather Around)].
Semi-evergreen. Tetraploid. Early blooms. 27" tall, 3way branching, 18 buds, 6" tlower. My good fj-iend,
David Williams, set me on the path that led to the name,
EMERALD LACE. It has a deep green throat, with a
pink polychrome overlay across its petals and sepals. It
also has an authentic, beautiful and lush green edge on its
petals. lndeed, this green edge is distinctive and just
plain stunning and gorgeous. EM ERALD LACE differs
from IRISH HALO because EMERALD LACE has more
"green-lace" on its petals, it has a slightly larger flower
and its petals have a "creped-appearance." It is my prediction that EMERALD LACE will become the parent of
many green edged daylilies. Pod and pollen fertile.
$150.00.
CARIBBEAN BLUE. (Delta Blues x Tet. Crystal Blue
Persuasion). Evergreen. Tetraploid. Early to midseason blooms. 31" tall, 3-way branching, 30 buds, 4"
flower. I wanted a blue-eyed daylily so I used a conversion of Elizabeth Salter's CRYSTAL BLUE PERSUASION. I know that everyone says that there is no blue
color in daylilies, but, looking through my glasses, the
blue in the eye of CARIBBEAN BLUE is as blue as the
blue waters I've seen in the Caribbean Seas. CARIBBEAN BLUE has a green throat that quickly changes to
a beautiful blue eye, and there is a burgundy edge
around the blue eye. The blue color also appears on the
interior of the sepals. Although evergreens are tender in
north Georgia, CARIBBEAN BLUE nevertheless grew
and survived just fine in our climate. Pod and pollen
ferti Ie. $ I00.00.
KELLEY'S VALENTINE.
[(Cherry Valentine x
Crazy Ivan) x Crazy Ivan]. Semi-evergreen. Tetraploid.
Early to mid-season blooms. 22" tall, 3-way branching,
15 buds,S" nower. The fjrst two Daylily Clubs that I
visited in the fall of 2009 were the Chattahoochee Valley Daylily Society and the Arkansas State DayJily Society. When I showed my picture of KELLEY'S VALENTINE, both Daylily Clubs were excited about this
new daylily. By combining Cherry Valentine and Crazy
Ivan I achieved my goal of creating a deep colored eye
and edge. The deep green throat gives way to a bright
red eye, and then this eye becomes a red edge on the
petals. The self is a light strawberry color. I've named
KELLEY'S VALENTINE for my daughter Kelley Rae.
She likes Valentine gifts!
Pod and pollen fertile.
$100.00.
LITTLE BO PINK. [(Ed Brown x Tet. Dena Marie) x
J. T. Davis] x Tet. Magic Lace] x Grace 578 Seedling].
Semi-evergreen. Tetraploid. Early blooms. 27" tall, 3way branching, 18 buds, 4 1/2" flower. LITTLE BO
PINK was created by using three conversions: Tet.
Siloam Ralph Henry, Tet. Dena Marie, and Tet. Magic
Lace,
which I converted. When I used Tet. Magic
Lace it was my purpose to create a tetraploid with the
great shape and strong colors that are in the dormant,
Magic Lace. Perhaps this helps explain the depth and
intensity of LITTLE BO PINK'S dazzling pink color.
When I wal k through our garden I always notice
the beautiful LITTLE BO P[NK. It's name comes from
my daughter Kelley. She suggested that I call it LITTLE BO PINK. Pod and pollen fertile. $100.00.
VIRGIL'S SUSPENDERS. (Tet. Indian Giver x Wild
and Free). Unusual fonn. SEV. Mid-season bloom.
Tetraploid. 38" tall, 3-way branching, 16 buds, 1"
flower. The petals and sepals have cascading curls, it is
very tall, and it stands the weather very well. VIRGIL'S
SUSPENDERS has a green throat, a light burgundy eye,
and then a darker burgundy color over both its petals and
sepals. ImpOJ1antly. VIRGIL'S SUSPENDERS also has
a distinct ivory edge on its petals and sepals. In naming
this daylily, J am honoring my friend Virgil Spence who
was a large man who wore "suspenders." Virgil had a
big laugh, and a wonderful sense of adventure. I tried a
case with Virgil, and then we talked aboLit the case for
many years. I miss Virgil, and so I'm using his name for
this outstanding day lily. Pod and pollen fel1ile. $10000
LEMON CURLS. (Seedling x Heavenly Angel Ice).
Unusual form. Early blooms and it continues to bloom.
Dormant. Diploid. 42" tall, 4-5 way branching, 38
buds, 5 1/2" flower. This is Diana's first introduction,
and it has a number of distinct Ceatures. The first distinct feature is the curling of the sepals. This curling is
Iike a tightly wound vvood shaving that might be produced by a carpenter's plane or chisel. The second distinct feature is that the floral segments have a pinwheel
The third distinct
feature, and are perfectly formed.
feature is that the scape is extremely strong, and does
not bend as sometimes happens with unusual form diploids. This daylily holds it shape all day, every dayl Its
green throat becomes a bright, alluring lemon color later
in the day. This is why Diana named her new daylily
LEMON CURLS. Pod and pollen fertile. $75.00.

RED SAPPHIRE. [(Cherry Valentine x Crazy Ivan) x
Cane Creek Falls]. Semi-evergreen. Tetraploid. Early to
mid-season blooms. 31" tall, 5-way branching, 18 buds,
6" flower. It took two years from seed to flower to see
RED SAPPHIRE'S first bloom along with its five impressive branches. I immediately knew that it would be
an introduction. It is a truly glittering dayJily with a
green throat and a large red diamond eye. Indeed, this
red dIamond eye helped me create the name, RED SAPPI-II RE.The self has a deep, strawberry color, and then
there is an obvious and gorgeous red and gold color on
the edge of the petals. "Shark's teeth" are also found on
the edge of the petals. Indeed, the shark's teeth, the diamond eye, and the distinct red and strawberry color make
RED SAPPHIRE a "must have" daylily. Pod and pollen
ferti Ie. $100.00.
