Shape Armhole: Row 1 (WS): BO 3 (4-6-6-8-9) sts, work in
pattern to the end.
Rows 2 & 4: Work in pattern to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 3 & 5: BO 2 sts, work in pattern to the end.
Dec 1 st at armhole edge on next 0 (3-5-9-11-14) rows Continue
working the armhole evenly while still decreasing for the front
opening as established. When all armhole and neck shaping is
complete, 20 (20-20-22-24-26) sts remain. Continue evenly until
armhole measures 6½ (7-7½-8-8½-8½)".
Place sts on a stitch holder.
NOTE
The decorative back of this cardigan is ingenius! It begins by
working two separate panels, at the same time, with two balls of
yarn. These panels are joined together at regular intervals with
cable twists, then separated again, forming a lovely openwork
center detail.

C4F: cable four stitches front: place next 2 sts on a cable needle
and hold in front of work, k2, knit 2 sts from a cable needle.

Using larger needles, CO 155 (165-175-185-195-205) sts.
Row 1, 3 & 5 (WS): Purl.
Rows 2 & 4 (RS): Knit.

Set up Row 2 (RS): Right panel: Sl1, work in Cable/Tuck Rib
pattern for 6 (7-8-9-10-11) pattern repeats, k4. Left panel: Sl1,

Dec 1 stitch at each end of row every 6 rows 2 (0-1-0-0-0)
times, then every 4 rows 8 (11-11-12-14-13) times, then every

Next 4 rows: BO 2 sts, work to last 2 sts, k2tog.
BO rem 13 (13-15-17-17-19) sts in pattern.
On the next RS Row, separate the left and the right back panels
again as originally set up***

FINISHING
Shape Armhole: Row 1: BO 3 (4-6-6-8-9) sts, work in pattern
to the end.
Row 2: BO 3 (4-6-6-8-9) sts, work in pattern to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Rows 3 - 5: BO 2 sts, work in pattern to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 6: BO 2 sts, work in pattern to the end.

Block the pieces. Using 3-needle BO method, attach the
shoulder seams.
Set in sleeves. Fold hem at turning ridge and tack to WS. Sew
the side and sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
