Wilkes-Barre and Dallas area from PA Turnpike.
The Tubs Nature Park
Par 1 is located on Rte 115 on your left as
you exit the PA Turnpike traveling towards Wilkes-Barre.
Rte 115N becomes Rte 309N to Dallas. After crossing the
Susquehanna River, proceed to Carverton Road turn right and
follow the signs to Frances Slocum State Par
Park 5 . Or at this
same light make a left onto Church Road. Take to Hillside Road
and make a left for The Lands at Hillside Farms
Farm 6 . Continue
straight on Rte 309 to 415 to Harvey’s Lake 7 . Prior to the
Lake make a left onto Rte 118 to Ricketts Glen State Park 8 .

The West Side of Wilkes-Barre.
From Downtown Wilkes-Barre, cross the Market St. Bridge
to Kingston. Continue straight to Rte 11. Turn left onto Rte 11
and continue through the towns of Edwardsville, Plymouth and
West Nanticoke to Rte 29 and make a right and follow to Moon
Lake Park D . If you make a right at Rte 11 proceed to Forty
Fort, make a left onto Denison Street to find The Nathan

From Wilkes-Barre take Rte 309 South towards Mountaintop.
Continue on 309 South towards Hazleton and make a left on to
East Butler Drive towards Freeland. Follow the signs to Eckley
Miners’ Village 9 .
From Rte 309 in Mountaintop make a left onto Rte 437.
Continue straight to Honey Hole Road and make a right to
Nescopeck State Park G . Or continue straight on Rte 437 to
Rte 940 and make a left into White Haven. The entrance to the
Lehigh Gorge State Park 10 is at the far end of the White
Haven Shopping Center. Continue past the shopping center;
just over the bridge, make a right onto Rte 534 and continue to
Rte 903; make a right for 6 miles. Pocono Whitewater is on your
right F .
Back at the intersection of 940 and Rte 437 continue straight
onto Rte 940 West past I-80 and make a left on to North Lehigh
Gorge Road and follow signs to Adventure Center at Whitewater

Ricketts Glen State Park

The Tubs Nature Park located just off Rte 115, four miles from
downtown Wilkes-Barre is 532 acres featuring seven large “tubs”
or “potholes” gouged out of the sandstone formed by
Wheelbarrow Run. The first .25 mile is paved, asphalt trail with a
wooden bridge high over the first waterfall. Thereafter the trail
becomes rocky and good hiking shoes are recommended. 1

The River Common and the 12 miles of the Wyoming Valley
Levee Trail parallels the Susquehanna River and offers
spectacular views of the river for joggers, bikers and recreational
walkers. 4
Frances Slocum State Park consists of 1,035 acres offering 13
miles of hiking and 4 miles of mountain bike trails. Frances
Slocum Lake is the focal point of the park and forms a horseshoe
covering 165 acres. 5

Moon Lake Park offers a 30 mile network of hiking and various
skilled mountain biking trails: smooth, rocky and technical. D

Ricketts Glen State Park is home to the challenging Falls Trails
named “Best Hike in PA” as part of Backpacker Magazine's 2009
Reader Choice Awards. Ricketts Glen is one of the most scenic
areas in Pennsylvania. 8

bikers and hikers 23 miles of Rails to Trails of scenic riding. 10
Nescopeck State Park,
Park bordered on the south by Mount Yeager
and on the north by Nescopeck Mountain, is a 3,550 acre park
encompassing wetlands, rich forests and many diverse habitats.
Hiking trails follow the Nescopeck Creek, climb mountains, pass
through quiet forest and skirt wetlands. An environmental
education center provides year-round educational programs on
the parks unique resources. G
