AUTHENTIC SMALL GROUP EXPERIENCES FOR ADVENTURE TRAVELLERS
RED CENTRE

PACKAGES
INTRODUCTION
MASSES GO OUTBACK... ONLY THE ENLIGHTENED FEW GO WAYOUTBACK!
Established in 1999, Wayoutback Australian Safaris has forged an enviable reputation for running authentic small group experiences, incorporating indigenous
culture, for adventure travellers. From Uluru, the red heart of Australia to the Tropical waterfalls and wetlands of Kakadu National park, Wayoutback Australian
Safaris deliver quality experiences throughout the Northern Territory. Our Safaris comprise different styles, catering for travellers of varying ages and budget.
Our 4WD Safaris are suitable for all ages seeking an authentic outback experience with a certain level of comfort; with remote, powered campsites with hot
water and flush toilets, complete with permenant safari tents including beds, all linens, pillow and sleeping bags. Swags are also available for those wanting
to sleep under the stars. Our 5 day Red Centre Safari also offer 1 night 'wild camping' for those wanting a real outback camping experience.
We also have a range of safaris for those travelling on a budget; designed for youthful, fun loving travellers these safaris are restricted to the 18-40 age
group and travel in air conditioned minibuses, or 4WD vehicles in the Top End. While more basic in nature, these safaris offer some private camps and in the
Red Centre you will swag under the stars, with tents available for hire for an additional fee. In the Top End we provide a mix of permanent tents and swags.
Sleeping bags are available for hire ($30) or you can bring your own.
For those wanting the best in small group experiential travel, whilst still experiencing an authentic Australian outback experience we offer a 3 day Eco
Experience. Limited to six guests touring in a 4-wheel drive vehicle with a senior guide and 4.5 star hotel accommodation.
WHY GO WAYOUTBACK?
LEGEND
It’s the experience that counts. Wayoutback is a privately Australian owned
and operated business with over 17 years’ experience in supplying travellers
unforgettable experiences. We pride ourselves on the very high standard of
our guides who are passionate about Australia, with a sound knowledge of
local history, Aboriginal culture, geology and the natural environment.
To make it easy for you to understand what type of safari you are booking,
we use a variety of icons explaining the most important elements of each
safari. These are explained as below:
OPEN-AGE: Safaris designed for active people of all ages.
You are expected to be able to walk up to 6 km per day in hot
weather and over uneven terrain.
ECO CERTIFIED
We are an Advanced Eco-Certified business and offer the highest standards of
environmental understanding, operational practices and cultural representation.
ABORIGINAL EXPERIENCES
18-40 RECOMMENDED: Young and fun, these safaris are
designed for younger like-minded travellers. We do not
encourage families or children on these safaris.
Wayoutback works closely with many of the traditional landowners in
the regions in which we operate. While all of our guides are experienced
in Aboriginal culture, history and Dreamtime, some of our trips also visit
significant sites with local Aboriginal guides; such as Oak Valley Aboriginal
Community in the Red Centre or Arnhem Land in the Top End.
SWAG: Sleep out in the open, around the fire, under millions of stars.
Swags are included on all Red Centre Safaris and available on request
on our Top End Safaris.
Climbing Uluru
Uluru is a sacred site and Anangu, the indigenous custodians, respectfully
ask visitors not to climb it. Wayoutback respects the wishes of the Anangu
people and instead explores the base of Uluru and surrounding areas.
Guests wishing to climb Uluru must do so on their own and only if weather
and time permits.
Group participation
Our safaris rely on the good will and cooperation of all passengers to make
them a success. This includes participating in the preparation of meals,
washing up, loading and unloading the vehicle and gathering firewood.
Things may change
While we make every effort to ensure things go as planned, due to the nature
of these safaris, weather, cultural reasons, seasonal closures and operational,
logistical or mechanical reasons may alter the itinerary of the safari.
Park Fees
Park fees are not included in the trip price and must be paid either upon
booking, reconfirmation or on departure.
Earlybird
Book more than 90 days in advance and save up to $50 per person. Look out
for the Earlybird pricing on selected safaris.
PERMANENT TENT: These safaris provide permanent tents, with
bed, mattress and pillows, linen and (on some tours) lighting. We also
offer triple tents on the Goanna and Dragonfly Safaris so that children
can sleep with their parents.

dirt travelling directly to Kings Canyon via the four wheel

DAY 2 (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Following breakfast we take a short drive to Kings Canyon
for an early guided walk. The Rim Walk is botanically and
spiritually rich, combined with astounding scenery such as
the buttressed domes that surround the Amphitheatre, the
Lost City and Garden of Eden. The walk takes approximately
3 hours requiring a good fitness level and for those
wanting a softer option, there is the shorter and easier
Kings Creek walk leading into the centre of the Canyon.
Following the walk we make our way to Uluru-Kata Tjuta
National Park, stopping at Willonga Well for lunch under the
shade of mighty Desert Oaks with perhaps a glass or two
of wine. On arrival at the National Park, it’s a good time to
stretch the legs at Kata Tjuta with the Walpa Gorge ‘Windy
Gully’ walk, suitable for most fitness levels. Returning to
the hotel, there’s time to prepare for the evening activities
and for those partaking the Sounds of Silence Dinner
(additional expense), you’ll be picked up from the hotel
while the rest of us find a remote location to observe the
famous changing colours of Uluru and Kata Tjuta at sunset,
accompanied with canapés and wine or cool refreshments.
After sunset we return to the hotel for a beautiful 3 course
dinner and chat about the day’s events.
• Kings Canyon • Kata Tjuta • Uluru Sunset
• Optional Sounds of Silence
DAY 3 (Breakfast/Lunch*)
We depart the Resort under darkness to a remote location
to witness sunrise over the mighty monolith of Uluru and
the domes of Kata Tjuta. Guests electing to climb Uluru will
be given a breakfast box and taken directly to the base to
commence their 2 - 2.5 hour climb (weather permitting)
while those not climbing will return to the hotel for
breakfast. Anangu discourage people from climbing Uluru.
We will rendezvous with guests that climbed Uluru to
experience the wonderful walks around the base, learning
of the creation myths and fascinating geology of Uluru.
For those departing from the Ayers Rock Airport / Resort,
your guide will deliver you by 12.30pm and for those
returning to Alice Springs, we commence our journey back,
stopping at Curtin Springs Station for a typical Aussie BBQ
lunch. We will return you to your hotel at approximately
5.30pm after three days of stunning beauty and adventure.
