Benefits of attending
How does my attendance benefit my CU?
The CUNA GAC is the only credit union governmental affairs
conference of its kind. This event offers the opportunity to
network with peers, hear from key legislative and political
leaders, and experience a variety of breakout sessions on
credit unions’ hot issues. There is nowhere else where you can
gather with over 3,000 credit union leaders. The GAC also
offers the largest exhibit hall for credit unions, with a wide
variety of products and services for your operational needs.
How does my attendance benefit the CU movement?
The credit union movement’s future depends on strong
leadership and a continued presence on Capitol Hill. The
grassroots nature of this event sends a strong message to
Congress. Your attendance is key in demonstrating the
strength and power of 90 million credit union members.
Convention Center
Where is the Washington Convention Center?
It’s located between 7th and 9th Streets and N Street and Mt.
Vernon Place in downtown D.C., right across from the new City
Museum. The Convention Center address is:
Washington Convention Center
801 Mount Vernon Place, NW
Washington, DC 20001
See area map page 7
View information about the Convention Center location at
www.dcconvention.com/directions.aspx
Is the Convention Center easy to navigate?
Yes. The GAC will be in one section of the Convention Center.
Entrances are located on the street level. Convention shuttles
will drop off and pick up attendees from the Convention
Center’s L Street entrance. The Mt. Vernon Place entrance is
used for taxi service. Both entrances can be used for those who
walk. CUNA’s Welcome Center and conference registration will
be on the street level (Level 1) for easy registration access for
the conference. All sessions, events, and the exhibit hall are
located on Level 2, with both escalator and elevator access.
Tell me about the Convention Center.
The Convention Center is a state-of-the-art facility that offers
an abundance of opportunities for networking, seating, and
an expanded exhibit hall. The new location offers many more
restaurant and entertainment options. The success of this
premier credit union conference has necessitated the move to
a larger location in 2008. The Convention Center offers
expanded space for meetings, the exhibit hall, evening events,
and networking options. The Washington subway system, the
Metro, has a stop right at the Convention Center.
Will there be Internet access?
Yes. The conference will have expanded Internet options
including free access to the Cyber Café with computers available
for your use. WiFi service is also available in the registration area.
What are the networking options? Will there be places to
relax and meet CU peers and colleagues?
One of the benefits of the GAC is networking with your peers.
There will be several seating options available, as well as areas
serving food and beverages for your convenience. There is no
need to leave the Convention Center once you arrive each day.
