Book of the Month
Virgin Mary and Theology of the Body by
Donald H. Calloway, MIC
Because of his studies in Mariology,
Fr. Donald thought to combine the Theology of the Body
and teachings on the Virgin Mary into a book. "I thought, if
I don't do this, somebody else will. And so I got permission
to do this book."
The Theology of the Body is the name given to a set
of Wednesday audiences given by Pope John Paul II. The
teachings address the reasons for God creating us as human
beings with bodies and gender.
Ten writers, including Fr. Donald, contributed essays
to this collection. The essay by Fr. Donald relates the
Theology of the Body to the four Marian dogmas. (The
four Marian dogmas are Mary is Mother of God, the
Perpetual Virginity of Mary, the Immaculate Conception,
and the Assumption.)
The book has been endorsed by theology professors
Scott Hahn (Franciscan University of Steubenville) and
Mary Shivanandan, S.T.D. (John Paul II Institute for
Studies on Marriage and Family).
St. Vincent de Paul Ministry
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be
having a “Dining-for-Dollars” event at
Pieology Restaurant on Tuesday, August 23rd and
Wednesday, August 24th.
Pope Francis said: “God is the light that illuminates
the darkness, even if it does not dissolve it, and a spark
of divine light is within each of us.”
Sometimes situations and decisions from the past
can make us feel disconnected and alone. If you have
emotional or spiritual wounds as a result of a past

Rachel’s Vineyard weekend retreat September 9-11.
It’s an opportunity for women and men to experience
