Tafjord – a rest by the fjord
TOUR 2:
Valldal – a stroll in strawberry land
We visit the lush orchard of Bakken at Linge, and the fruit
cordial and jam factory, Valldal safteri. Then the tour
continues to the Wool Barn at Hauge, set high above the
fjord in the village of Fjørå. We end the tour with a tasty
and relaxing break at Olagarden farm in Tafjord, nestling
in the innermost part of the fjord. We will gather around
the table there for a delicious home-cooked meal.
We visit the lush orchard of Bakken at Linge, and
the fruit cordial and jam factory, Valldal safteri.
After this we visit the Storstova strawberry farm
in Valldalen, and take a short stroll from there to
Jordbærstova at Solheim farm. Here we end the
tour with a tasty home-cooked meal in traditional
surroundings.

Linge is the most northerly commercial fruit-growing district in the world.
At Bakken we grow raspberries, sweet cherries,
plums, apples, pears and
sour cherries – and a few
apricot and peach trees.
People come to Linge from
all over the district to buy
our fruit and berries.
At Storstova farm we
grow strawberries and
potatoes. We have around
30 hectares of strawberries that need to be
harvested over a few
hectic summer weeks. It
is a busy time – but also
quite wonderful to work
with the best berry in the
world!
Jordbærstova is on
national route 63 towards
Trollstigen, in the midst
of strawberry country.
We serve a tasty lunch based on local ingredients,
with our home-made
apple juice – made from
organic apples picked in
our World Heritage area.
Since 1919, the traditional
Valldal juicery has produced jam and fruit cordial of the highest quality
and with a home-made
flavour. We use only the
best ingredients, and
the delicious fresh taste
has given us satisfied
customers throughout the
land.
We are situated at 400
metres above sea level,
with breathtaking views
of the fjord and mountains. We practise the
traditional craft of felting
in the heart of a working
agricultural landscape –
and we sell various felt
products and sheepskins
from our own sheep.
Olagarden farm is surrounded by the unspoiled
beauty of Tafjord, with
a view of the fjord and
the towering mountains.
The farmhouse was built
in the 1890s, and is now
used as a guesthouse.
We serve a tasty lunch
featuring produce from
the local area.
