The Illawarra Industry Apprenticeship Project continued
to make a significant contribution in 2010/2011 by

unemployment. Acting as a major catalyst to educate,
re-engage and assist employers in the provision of trade
training, we create pathways into apprenticeships for

this initiative plus outstanding success of the Kickstart
program, with targets well exceeded in up-skilling job
seekers and subsequent securing of apprenticeships.
Providing job candidates with simple tools that assist
them in applying, preparing and securing
apprenticeship vacancies has resulted in a steady
increase of placements.
Promoting free assistance available to all SME’s, including
recruitment, advice on incentives, signups and training
plans, has dramatically reduced the time and spend on
recruiting practices. This allows employer’s to focus on
running their business.
Results are also reflected with the project being awarded
2010 Finalist in The Employment and Training category
for the Regional Achievement and Community Awards.

funds raised at the Bandage
Bear Benefit Night, this year

Kids Fund helps Illawarra
children with special needs
and significant disabilities by
providing essential aids and
equipment.
Kids Fund is generated entirely
by the community and receives
no government assistance.
It is open to children 18 and
under in the Wollongong,
Kiama and Shellharbour local
council areas.
