Aquila Theatre breathes fresh life into Shakespeare’s timeless comedy about
the battle of the sexes. Bianca, the beautiful daughter of a lord, is eligible for
marriage but cannot be courted until her elder sister, Katherina, finds a husband.
Katherina’s quick temper and acerbic wit, however, frighten off every potential
suitor. Feeling that they are running out of options, two suitors hire a newcomer
named Petruchio to seduce and “tame” Katherina. Known for their bold

Trisha Brown has blazed a singular path in the dance world for 50 years. Known for
incorporating everyday movements into her avant-garde dances, she has become
one of the most acclaimed choreographers of the post-modern era. In this special
performance, the company performs excerpts of a new work, Rogues, inspired by
Brown’s exploration of sculpture, calligraphy, and knots, with a score by composer
Alvin Curran. Earlier Brown masterworks complete the evening, including For M.G:

Forsythe dancer Crystal Pite integrates movement, original music,

piece based on motifs from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Pite stages
a game of revenge and forgiveness, reality and imagination.
Chalk-white replicas deliver the essential plot points of the story,
but the emotion and tension of the narrative are fleshed out by
real characters, with rigourous movement that holds the audience
spellbound. Kidd Pivot, which was resident company at Künstlerhaus
Mousonturm in Frankfurt for the past two years, “etches itself into

endeavor yet. The trio revitalizes Stravinsky’s composition alongside a multimedia
presentation created by filmmakers Cristina Guadeloupe and Noah Hutton, making
the score’s primitivism and churning rhythms their own. Rolling Stone calls their
amalgam of jazz, pop, rock, and avant-garde “about as badass as highbrow gets.”
The Bad Plus’ brilliant transformation proves that there are still vital musical lessons
to be learned from the piece that caused a riot at its Paris premiere 100 years ago.

For more than half a century, the Joffrey Ballet has been “America’s Company
of Firsts”: the first dance company to perform at the White House; the first to
appear on television; the first American company to visit Russia; the first classical
dance company to use multimedia; the first to commission a rock ‘n’ roll ballet;
the first, and only, dance company to appear on the cover of TIME magazine, and
the first company to be the subject of a major motion picture, Robert Altman’s
The Company. Now, the Joffrey Ballet makes their first Flynn appearance in a
performance of Kurt Jooss’ The Green Table (1932), an expressionist anti-war
work that was equivalent to a warning against the clouds darkening over Europe.
The company also performs two contemporary works, Christopher Wheeldon’s

One half-hour prior to a show, only that day’s event will be available for purchase to ensure timely seating. On Sunday, the Box Office window opens one hour before
