The Dropsicles Crew Brings out Canada’s Finest TEXT AND PHOTOS BY JASON MULLIGAN 84 J A N U A R Y 2 0 1 2 • S T R E E T T R U C K S THE COUNTRY OF CANADA IS SIMILAR, YET STILL VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE UNITED STATES. Canadians might have some different lingo, their health care system might be more advanced, and they see more snow than an ICEE machine; but when it comes to custom trucks and truck shows, they know how to do it right. Canadians want what we want out of a show: custom trucks in the sun, fun games, custom awards and high-end raffle prizes. The guys and girls from Dropsicles worked their tails off to ensure that their event was no Gong Show, and even though it’s only their second year, they’ve put together a top-notch show. This past July, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, just north of the border, Eagle Alloys Sideshow occurred down the street from the Street Machine show, offering up custom trucks of all styles surrounded by late-night cruising and fun games. Those games included a root beer-chugging contest, frozen sock contest, where the first to unfreeze a pair of socks from a block of ice and put them on won, and the three-legged race, where accidents are virtually guaranteed. Custom awards from Billy Bob Customs and Metal Works capped off the day. Chad Hargreaves took home Best of Show with his ‘71 C-10, while the Street Trucks Editor’s Pick went to Neil Tomyn and his clean and classy ’68 GMC, Diablos took home Club Participation and Tim Horton’s took home Best Coffee.
