Dot earned her Ph.D. from the University of Alabama and specialized in educational research and statistics while on a Federal research fellowship. She has been active in MSERA for the past 11 years. She chaired the Membership Committee from 1987-1989 and initiated the New Member Reception as part of the annual meeting. She also served on the Program and the Nominating Committees and chaired the Special Interest Group (SIG) Committee. Dot was elected as an at-large member of the MSERA Board of Directors for 19921993 and was elected Secretary-Treasurer for 1995. John Enger teaches educational measurement, statistics and research methods at Arkansas State University. John has been a member of MSERA since 1977 and a regular participant and presenter. He has been on the board of directors both in an at-large position and twice as Arkansas director. He has served on a number of MSERA committees and chaired the Evaluation and Publications Committees. John received his' Ph.D. in educational measurement and statistics from the University of Iowa. He is a full professor at Arkansas State University and has had two appointments as a Fulbright scholar abroad. His research the past few years has focused on at-risk students and violence prevention. John has represented MSERA on the board and as presidentt of the Consortium of State and Regional Educational Research Associations, the organization which sponsors the sessions at AERA where the distinguished papers from MSERA are presented. CANDIDATES FOR 1996 MSERA BOARD OF DIRECTORS Local Education Agency Joan Butler is Director of Family-Centered Schools and Programs for the Starkville School District (MS). She completed her B.S. in Elementary Education at Mississippi University for Women and her M.Ed., Ed.S., and Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Mississippi State University. She has been an active member of MSERA since 1987. In the past, she has served as the secretaryltreasurer, LEA Representative, reviewer for Outstanding Paper Awards, and chaired the Future Site Selection Committee and Membership Committees. She also was the recepient of the Oustanding Paper Award. Jim Dyer is Director of Federal Programs forthe North Little Rock School District (AR). There he coordinates the Title I, Title VI, Even Start, and State Compensatory Education programs for the school district. He is also responsible for the writing of the applications and the evaluation of the programs. He also indirectly supervises approximately eighty certified and classified employees in these programs. He completed his B.S.E. at the University of Central Arkansas and received his M.S.E. and Ed.S. from the University of Arkansas. He has been an active member of MSERA for 2 years. II CANDIDATES FOR 1996 MSERA BOARD OF DIRECTORS (continued) Gloria A. Turner serves as Coordinator of Student Assessment for the Alabama State Department of Education. She has also worked in Central Administration in both the Tuscaloosa County School System and the Hale County School System (AL) planning and implementing state and local testing programs for the public schools, as an Education Specialist for the Alabama State Department of Education providing services in the area of counseling and career guidance for the local school systems in the state, and as an administrative assistant/counselor at the University of Alabama. She received her B.S. from Jacksonville State University in Alabama, and her M.A., AA Certificate in Guidance and Counseling, and her Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. She has been an active member of MSERA since 1985 and served on the MSERA Board of Directors from 1992-93. She received the MSERA Distinguished Dissertation Award in 1989. She is an active researcher and has written and co-authored many publications. She is also the founder and president of Software Made Easy (a computer software company) and the developer of EVALUATOR (a computer software program designed for use by teachers and administrators). Jane Nell Luster serves as Program Manager of the Automated Data Collection and Management Section, at the Bureau of Pupil Appraisal, Office of Special Education Programs (OSES) in the Louisiana Department of Education. She has also worked as Program Manager for the Extended School Year Program/Laura I. Consent Decree in the Bureau of Program Development (OSES) in the Louisiana Department of Education, as an Educational Assessment Teacher inLouisiana, and as a classroom teacher of students with disabilities in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. She received her B.S. in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, her M.Ed. from Deha State University, and her Ph.D. from Louisiana State University. At-Large Representative Ira E. Bogotch is an Associate Professor in Educational Leadership at the University of New Orleans. He received his M.A. in ESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University and his Ed.D. from Florida International University. He has been a member of MSERAsince 1990. Daniel Fasko is Professor of Education and Program Leader in Secondary Education in the Department of Leadership and Secondary Education at Morehead State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Florida State University. Dan has been a member of MSERA since 1985 and has been a frequent presenter at the annual meeting. He also has been a member of the Program and Future-Site Committees, as well as Co-Chair of the Program Committee and Chair of the Publication/Communications Committee, of which he is presently serving as chairperson. Jeffrey Gorrell received his Ph.D. in Psychological Foundations at the University of Florida in 1975. He currently is Pofessor and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at Auburn University. He has been a member of MSERA for over 15 years, served as Secretary-Treasurer and LERA Representative to the Board of Directors, as well as serving on several committees, and chairing the Membership Cmmittee. His research areas of interest are teacher efficacy and development, international education, and cognitive development. Ron Partridge, Chair, Department of Educational Leadership and Educational Psychology at the University of Mississippi, received a B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. in Secondary Administration from Ohio University. He served as a teacher, coach and school principal during thirteen years in public schools in Ohio. He received a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the Ohio State University in 1971 and immediately joined the Educational Administration facuhy at Ole Miss. He was a charter member of MSERA and has attended every annual meeting until 1994, when illness kept him away. He served as secretarytreasurer from 1974 until 1977. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors. Ava has served as a Board member and on the Future-Site, Evaluation, Oustanding Paper, and Nominating Committees. She earned her doctorate from Mississippi State University in 1980. Georgine Steinmiller is a professor of Special Education at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She has a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin, a Master's degree in Special Education from Northern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in Special Education and Counseling from the University of Iowa. She is a member and has held offices in such professional organizations as the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). She has attended and presented papers at MSERA since 1987. Georgine Steinmiller Qaisar Sultana is a Professor in the Department of Special Education at Eastern Kentucky University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, a Master's Degree in Education from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and a Master's degree in International Relations and International Law from the Universityof Karachi, Pakistan. Qaisar has been a member of MSERA since 1980. She has been sharing her research activities with MSERA members at the annual conferences regularly. She has served on many committees and chaired the Future-Site Committee. She presently is chairing the Membership Committee. Leanne Whiteside is a Research Associate at the University of Arkansas Center for Research on Teaching and Learning. She has also been employed as an independent computer consukant providing data analyses for such places as the Arkansas Highway Department, Arkansas State Hospital, Baptist Medical Systems, and the VA Medical Center to name a few. She has also served as a System AnalysVConsultant at the University of Arkansas at Little RockAcademic Computing Services. She has written and co-authored many publications and papers. She received a B.S.E. and a M.S. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is currently working towards her PH.d. in Educational Research at the University of Memphis.
