The Spitzenberg and Blue Mountains are located on this property. 1,583 acres of wooded, hilly terrain excellent for bird watching, picnicking or walking. Three lakes located on site attract plenty of waterfowl. Fishing enthusiasts are hooked on Westchester with fishing permitted in all streams and lakes under the control of the Westchester County Parks Department (except in the nature preserves and where "No Fishing" signs are displayed). Fly-fishing is permissible at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River. In winter, ice fishing is allowed on several lakes, conditions permitting, except in areas specifically designated for ice-skating. A New York State fishing license is required and can be obtained through the Westchester County Clerk’s office at 995-3080. At Baldwin Place, it becomes the Putnam Trailway, continuing seven miles to Carmel. The North County Trailway is situated on what was part of the former Putnam Division of the New York Central Railroad. The "Old Put," as it was fondly referred to by commuters, provided freight and passenger service from 1881 to 1958 between the Bronx and Putnam County. See map for points of access along this trail.
