Raffle
Our school families have been selling raffle tickets since November, and
tonight is the big drawing! If you didn’t get a chance to buy tickets, or if
you want to improve your odds, there are tickets available for sale
tonight during our cocktail hour. Just look for one of our Raffle Captains.
Tickets are $10 each. There are 3 total cash prizes – 1st prize is $2500,
2nd prize is $1000 and 3rd prize is $500!
Heads or Tails
This game has become a Dinner Dance tradition. For just $20 you can
get a chance to win big! Buy a game card (or two) from one of our
Heads or Tails Captains during the cocktail hour. All players begin by
standing. When instructed, everyone “declares” by displaying either
heads or tails on their game card, guessing the outcome of the coin toss.
Players who guess correctly will proceed to the next round. Play will
continue until one player is left standing. The winner receives $500!

Fund-A-Need: iPad Trays
Tonight you will have a chance to raise your hand and make an
investment in the educational mission of St. Luke Parish School. Keep
our school at the forefront of academic technology with your donation to
this year's Fund-A-Need effort to provide iPad Trays. Each iPad Tray
costs $6500 and holds 10 iPads with protective cases. These trays allow
for flexibility of use throughout the school. iPads enable our teachers to
provide more diverse methods of instruction while engaging our students

Welcome to the 24th Annual Dinner Dance and Auction Blue Ribbon
Gala. It is a wonderful way to celebrate St. Luke Parish School’s
recognition as a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School for academic
excellence. St. Luke Parish School is one of only fifty Catholic schools
in the country to earn National Blue Ribbon status this year! This
evening allows us the opportunity to build on our success as the proceeds
directly support our educational programs, which benefits each and every
student.
The time, talent and generosity you donate to our St. Luke community
show your commitment to our parish school. A great big thank you to all
who participated in planning tonight’s event and to all of the attendees.
We appreciate everything you do to help make St. Luke Parish School
one of the best in the nation! We are blessed to have you as part of our

We feel blessed to be a part of the wonderful community of St. Luke
Parish.
Tonight we are thrilled to honor Sheila and Bud Murray. Their example
of generosity and service is truly humbling and is what St. Luke Parish
and School is all about. We are proud to recognize the Murray’s
commitment and dedication to our Parish and many other Catholic
organizations.
So many people contributed to make this evening possible. We are lucky
to have a wonderful team of men and women who volunteered many
hours and shared their time and talent to help make this event possible.
We would particularly like to thank the Auction Chairs, Maribel Jimenez
and Colleen Weiler, and the Director of Stewardship and Development,
Shelia Price, as well as all of the members of the Auction Committee and
Dinner Dance Committee for their work, commitment, and dedication
over the past several months.
Not only is this a fun evening that we look forward to every year, but it is
also a very important event for our school. It is an investment in
preserving the deep-rooted tradition of academic excellence in a faith

We are pleased to announce that the honorees for the 2013 St. Luke
School Dinner Dance & Auction "Blue Ribbon Gala" are Sheila
(Clements) and Dr. Meredith (Bud) Murray. It is a poignant reflection on
the excellence of St. Luke School, as we celebrate our Blue Ribbon
award, to honor one of St. Luke's most beloved former teachers.
Sheila grew up in the Clifton Park neighborhood of Lakewood, Ohio and
attended St. James Parish School, St. Augustine High School, and St.
Mary of the Woods College, where she graduated with degrees in
education and English. Bud, a St. Luke School graduate of ‘44, went on to
Fenwick, College of the Holy Cross, and finally Loyola University
Medical School.

Years after Bud and Sheila had lost their spouses, Deacon Paul and Clare
Faherty suggested to Sheila that she have dinner with Bud Murray.
Hesitantly, two years later in 1994, Sheila decided to ask Bud as her guest
to the St. Luke School Dinner Dance & Auction. Bud proved a very
worthy guest and in 1995 Sheila and Bud were married. They have been
complementing each other very well in marriage for 18 years now. They
are blessed with seven children, three of Bud's and four of Sheila's, and
are kept busy with 22 grandchildren.

The following people contributed financially to help pay for the many expenses
that make the Dinner Dance a premier event. We thank them for their generosity
and continued support of St. Luke School.
Pastor’s Club ($1,000 – 4,999)
Bud and Sheila Murray have been extremely generous with their time,
talent and treasure to the St. Luke community and many ministries
including the Ministry of Care, Eucharistic Ministry and the Learning
Center. Sheila was one of the most beloved teachers at St. Luke for 25
years. Her calm demeanor and care for children helped many generations
of St. Luke students get through the challenges of learning. She retired
from teaching in 1996. Prior to his retirement in 1998 Bud was an OBGYN doctor and actually helped deliver many of the students that Sheila
taught.
It cannot be more fitting as we celebrate our National Blue Ribbon award
of Excellence that we honor Sheila and Bud Murray, a couple completely
committed and dedicated to Catholic education who live lives of service
to St. Luke Parish and the Catholic Church.
On behalf of the entire St. Luke community— and beyond— thank you,
Sheila and Bud, for sharing your love, your time and your talent with us.
