Our programs are advertised on Cable Channel 4, in local newspapers, thru flyers, on our
web site (www.evergreenpark-ill.com), on facebook, and by e-blast. You may register inperson at the Recreation Department office during regular business hours. Your
registration may also be mailed with payment. Please include the name and the session
of the program for which you are registering. Registration for residents will begin on
Thursday, April 28; for non-residents on Thursday, May 5. Not all programs are open to
non-residents. ALL FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL AT REGISTRATION. Cash or checks

Free Summer Concert Series
The Evergreen Park Recreation Department hosts 6 FREE concerts in the park throughout
the summer. Pack your picnic basket, bring your blankets or lawn chairs, and treat your
family and friends to some outstanding entertainment. All concerts are held in Klein Park,
97th & Homan, from 6:00—8:00 P.M.
Call the Recreation Department office (708-229-3373) in case of inclement weather.

Day in the Park 5K Run, 2M Walk, ¼M Junior Run

This summer, our annual 5K/2M will be a fundraiser for Autism! Money raised as a result
of this event will be donated to a local agency that provides community resources such as
parent support groups, awareness events, and many other forms of assistance for parents
and families of children with Autism in the Chicagoland area.

COME CELEBRATE WITH US AND HONOR OUR
COUNTRY! The parade starts at 95th and Harding, proceeds east on 95th Street to Richmond, turns north, and
goes to 91st and Richmond where the parade ends. No
rain date for parade.
FIREWORKS DISPLAY
A spectacular fireworks display will
follow the parade. This event will take place at Martin
B. Duffy Memorial Park, located at 92nd and Ridgeway, and will begin at dusk. Rain date (for fireworks
only) on Sunday, July 3.

Throughout the year Mayor Sexton and the Village of Evergreen Park acknowledge those
who are currently serving or have served in the armed forces. Each year these individuals and their families are invited to be the Grand Marshalls at our parade. These fine
men and woman hold an important place in the hearts of our residents and the village

Chicago Cubs VS Chicago White Sox
Join in on the fun as Chicago’s Cross Town
Classic continues. The Cubs will visit the
White sox on Tuesday, July 26th. Game
time is 7:10 P.M. The bus will leave from the
Recreation Department at 5:45 P.M. The seats
are located in the bleachers, section 162, rows
13-16.
The price of a ticket to this “premium game,” which includes round trip bus transportation, is $58.00.

Leapin’ Lizards! The world’s best-loved musical returns in time-honored form.
Directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin and choreographed by

Mom & Tots Classes (Dads always welcome!)
This comprehensive gym and movement experience is designed
to allow the child, with the help of the parent, to learn basic
stretching and flexibility exercises. It also presents movement
education principles to increase balance, coordination, and body
awareness. These classes include songs, finger exercises, and
equipment exploration as well as socialization for the children.

Registration for Fall Preschool will continue until classes are filled or the session begins.
Children who attend must be 3 years old and
fully toilet trained by August 22, 2016. If your
child turns 3 after August 22, call for 2nd session availability. To register for preschool you
must provide the following items: the child’s
birth certificate, proof of residency, and a
$35.00 non-refundable deposit (which will be
applied to the first preschool payment).
We will have an Open House on Wednesday, August 10, from 6:30—7:30 P.M.

The preschool offers a curriculum that includes number, letter, word, color,
and shape identification; arts & crafts; fine and gross motor skills; story
time, playtime, and socialization. In addition, the 5 day program offers an
introduction to countries around the world, science explorations, and extended math concepts.
All classrooms have 2 teachers; 1 or more are certified. All are CPR certified.

the price. There are no additional costs.

Children’s Day Camps
Preschool Day Camp
Each day the planned activities are geared
around a specific theme. Activities will include
art, songs, storytime, and playtime. The day
camp will also include picnics, outdoor games,
and special events.
All children must be pre-registered at the Recreation Department office prior to June 6th. Children
must be three years old and potty-trained when
they begin preschool day camp. Birth certificate,
proof of residency, and full payment are required at the time of
registration. Classes are limited. Therefore, enrollment will be on a firstcome-first-served basis. Camp is led by our preschool teachers and held in
the preschool rooms at the Community Center.

Mini-Day Camp
An alternative to the five day a week camp
program is being offered. All children will participate in indoor and outdoor games, park activities, art projects, and craft projects. The major
emphasis is on FUN, not athletics. This program
will also include special
event days! Campers should
wear their camp shirt (provided by the Recreation
Department), and/or play clothes, use sun-screen,
and bring their lunch. Culminating events will include live entertainment by our Drama Camp, an ice
cream social, and an end of camp activity!

Day Camp-Full Day
This 8 week day camp provides a safe, FUN environment for your child. Campers will be able to swim
twice a week, make arts and crafts projects, participate
in indoor and outdoor games, and enjoy many special
events! A field trip will be planned for each week and a
t-shirt will be provided to each participant to be worn
on all field trips. If a camper chooses not to attend a
field trip, they cannot attend camp that day since all counselors are required
to chaperone the field trips. An early drop off and late pick up will be available for an additional fee. Both sites are air-conditioned. To register, parents must bring their child’s current report card from an Evergreen Park
School and entire fee (excluding field trip fees).

2016 Chicago White Sox Baseball Summer Camps

Every camp participant, along with one guest, will be included in a parade on the field and a Q& A
session with a White Sox personality, coach, and a current White Sox player! Also, during the camp
each player will participate in a special skills competition. The Top 30 qualifiers in each age
throughout the summer will compete in the finals on U.S. Cellular Field in September. *Each camper also receives six White Sox ticket vouchers, t-shirt, evaluation report, and graduation certificate. 7-11 year olds will receive an Academy ball cap.

Basketball camps
Beyond the Arc Academy Basketball
Beyond the Arc Academy will partner with the Evergreen Park
Recreation Department to hold the Summer Skills & Drills Instructional League.
In the instructional league, players will receive a team shirt
and play 40-minute games with equal playing time. Players
will participate in 3 weeks of skills & drills, focusing on the fundamentals of individual and team play, followed by 5 weeks of team play. Held at the Activity
Center.

Get Fit Kids Camp
Don’t want the kids spending summer vacation in
front of the TV or playing video games? Get the
lead out in our fitness group as we run, exercise,
learn self-respect for our bodies, and encourage each
other. The lessons learned in “Get Fit” include
sportsmanship, coordination, discipline, and
teamwork. Camp held at Klein Park, on M, W, & F.

Boys Lacrosse Camp
Lacrosse is a high-intensity game very similar to soccer, but instead of kicking a ball
through a goal, the object is to throw a ball into a goal with a lacrosse stick. All
equipment (helmets, sticks, gloves, nets, and shoulder and elbow pads) will be provided. Camp will be held at Duffy Park.

Future Pros Soccer Camp
Future Pros has been successfully providing training programs
for soccer players of all ages and skill levels for the past 20 years.
The trainers bring their extensive experience of playing and
coaching in Europe and South America to create a challenging practice environment
for all levels. All participants receive a t-shirt and soccer ball. All camps will be held
at Duffy Park.
This introduction level camp will instill a love and excitement for the game by implementing fun games and drills.

Skills Camps: Whether you are a new or experienced dancer, there is a class for you. In July,
try Beginning or Advanced Tap and/or Jazz. In August, our multidisciplinary classes allow you to
spend four days learning tap, jazz, ballet, yoga, tumbling and more. With three hours a day and
three instructors, take the opportunity for a more intense, focused study of dance.

Color Guard
This class will be a fun introduction for those interested in learning
the basics of color guard. Throughout this class, kids will learn
firsthand the fundamentals of the flag and the foot work that go
into color guard routines while having a blast doing it! Color Guard

Independence Day Parade.

Taekwondo
Classes are taught under the direction of G. Master Ki Hong Kim (9th
Dan World Taekwondo Federation). Students have the opportunity to
improve concentration and self-esteem, achieve lifelong fitness, and
learn self-defense skills. Classes are age level appropriate. A $45.00
uniform fee is required at the first class of the 2nd session. Belt testing
is offered 2x per year through KH Kim Taekwondo for an additional fee
of $70.00 per test. All colored belt students are required to have complete sparring gear.
Little Dragons (Age 4-5) 3:35-4:15 P.M.
This introductory class is designed to captivate the interest of our youngest students. Skills are developed through gentle instruction and appropriate games for
their ability. This class focuses on developing balance, coordination, and respect
for the discipline of martial arts training.
Early Taekwondo (Age 6-7) 4:20—5:05 P.M.
Designed especially for the younger children of 6-7 years, this program helps kids
develop conditioning, coordination, listening skill, and self-confidence through creative activities.
Youth Taekwondo (Age 8-13) 5:10—5:55 P.M.
This program offers a balanced cardiovascular workout, including punching, kicking, and blocking skills, using the Taekwondo tradition and self-control. Participants will improve coordination, power of concentration, balance, and both physical and mental discipline.

Drama camp
Join our drama camp and take part in a small play production! We will start
out the class with games and activities and then get down to business.
Students will experience what it is like to perform in live drama. Auditions,
stage directions, vocalization, and improvisation are some of the aspects we
will cover. The best learning takes place on the stage so that is exactly what your child
should expect from this fun and delightful class.

Fall Soccer League
The Evergreen Park Recreation Department Soccer Program (EPRD Soccer) is a recreation
league for youth soccer in the Village of Evergreen Park. This league allows us to help develop and promote youth soccer at a recreation level while preparing our players for their
next level of the game. Specifically we want to:
• Develop and promote youth soccer.
• Foster good sportsmanship.
• Teach "true soccer" (proper skills, technique and play).
• Improve the competitive level of the game.
• Develop a lifelong interest in soccer.
• Most importantly, have fun!
Changes to age groups DEPENDING ON REGISTRATION:
4 yr olds, 5-7yr olds, 8-10 yr olds, 11-14yr olds, and 15-18 yr olds
Games are on Saturdays. Practice days/times are scheduled by individual team coaches.
Registration will continue until Friday, July 29. NO LATE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Season will start 8/20 and end on 10/15.

Group Swim Lessons
Students must be able to dress/undress themselves and
toilet independently. Children are placed into small group
stations according to their ability and advance to the
next station after passing skills tests. Sessions will be
limited to 24 students, so enroll early. Weekday group
lessons are offered Monday through Friday, the first
week, and Monday through Wednesday the following
week, for a total of 8 lessons. Saturday group lessons are offered 8 consecutive Saturdays. All session dates are offered at the times listed below.
Parents are welcome to watch all lessons from the balcony viewing area.
