GLENN SQUIRES, CEO, PACRIM RECEIVES ANNIVERSAY AWARD
FROM MOUNT SAINT VINCENT UNIVERSITY (MSVU), HALIFAX, NS
On May 15, 2014 Glenn Squires received the MSVU Anniversary Award for his contribution to the university’s
Hospitality Management Program. Inaugurated in 1998-99 during Mount Saint Vincent’s 125th Anniversary
Year, this award recognizes exceptional volunteer contributions to the University over many years.
“Glenn Squires has been a steadfast champion of the
Mount, and his continued leadership exemplifies the
power of ‘community’ in the Mount’s unique
education. Glenn’s dedication to the Tourism and
Hospitality Management Program has been
formidable. For over a decade the proceeds from
Glenn’s Pacrim Invitational Golf Tournament
supported the establishment of a number of
scholarships and awards, with contributions of close
to half a million dollars. These awards, which
enhance scholarly activities and provide funding for
program needs, enhance the educational experience
of students in that program”, said Ramona Lumpkin,
MSVU President & Vice-chancellor.
Ramona Lumpkin, MSVU President & Vice-chancellor and
Glenn Squires, CEO, Pacrim Hospitality Services Inc.
“Glenn also served on the Project TWENTY12 Business and Tourism committee and has personally sponsored a
reception area, in honour of his wife Penny Squires, for the Business Administration and Tourism and
Hospitality Management Department. Project TWENTY12 surpassed its goal of $12M and Glenn’s contribution
was integral to that success”, Ramona Lumpkin.
“In 2002 Pacrim founded the Pacrim Invitational Golf Tournament. As part of this tournament, Pacrim wanted
to give something back to our community. From 2002-2012, our organization choose the Hospitality
Management Program at MSVU as the contributor of monies received through its live and silent auctions from
the tournament. Pacrim appreciates and recognizes the importance of superior employee training and
development in hospitality. This Award I accept on behalf of the many Pacrim employees who organize this
tournament, a tournament which has been named “the best golf tournament in Atlantic Canada” and our
sponsors and suppliers who have contributed auction items for this very worthy cause”, said Squires.
“We encourage each and every one of our employees across the country to “give back” to their communities.
With our Head Office in Bedford, Nova Scotia, it has been our pleasure to have contributed and to continue to
contribute to our MSVU Hospitality Management Program community”, stated Squires.

Hi, Glenn!
Thanks again to you and the Super 8 staff
for a terrific day. Everything was very
well organized and carried out. A great

I just want to update you on the

today. Awesome. The money from the
barbecue totaled $340. I have counted
several times and the total is $340. This
is a terrific success.
The 50/50 winner donated the $30 back
to the committee so the draw brought in
$60. We sold $35 worth of raffle tickets

I am certain when one of your staff makes an error there are clients that certainly make complaints.
I recently went through a fire and lost everything in my apartment. I was lucky enough to have a bit of
insurance which also included $3,000 dollars for accommodations. I have been staying here for a little
over two weeks with 5 nights left and felt it necessary to let you know how great your staff is. I have
been treated with nothing but respect and while being in a bad state of mind after losing all my
personal effects and your staff has made me feel at home. For that I would like to thank you as you are
ultimately the person that put this fine team of employees together.
Just a couple of examples are; when I was down I could depend on any of your staff to take two minutes
to talk about anything whether it was simply the temperature or anything else which simply took my
mind off things. I have dealt with every staff member and have nothing but positive remarks towards
them.
I am a single Dad and my boys have been staying at their moms while I am here, but I had them at the
hotel for the weekend and Sunday morning I brought my boys downstairs for breakfast. Jessica took
the time to make a card that said Happy Father's Day from the staff at the Super 8. Now that I found
amazing and felt she went above and beyond. But to be truthful it doesn't surprise me because whether
it be Ralph, Michelle, Jessica, Rejeane or Dave they have all been great.
Thank you and sorry for making this email so long, but I found it necessary to put into perspective how
great of a team you have put together.
Best Regards
Kevin Charest

Dear Mr. Wirun and Staff,
Mr. Crundwell,
My husband and I want to thank you for the
special way your staff; in particular Sara, handled
our reservation, when we checked in at 6:15 a.m.
on the 10th.
I wanted to thank you and your staff for an
enjoyable stay this past weekend at your property.
We arrived in town by VIA rail and our train had
been delayed 7 hours due to a derailment on the
tracks. Sara realized we had missed checking in
on the 9th and gave us a reduced charge due to
this inconvenience. We had called around 9:30
p.m. to alert the hotel of our dilemma.
She went out of her way to do anything she
could to make our stay as comfortable as
possible and as exhausted we were, we really
appreciated the kindness she showed.
Our stay was lovely as was the beautiful clean
room we had. The breakfast in the a.m. was
yummy, with lots of items to choose from. We
have stayed at Wingate hotels before and have
never been disappointed. Thank you, and your
staff, for a great stay!
Sincerely,
Gary and Gayle Hempel
My wife and I were celebrating a wedding
anniversary and had planned on spending it with
some old friends at Ian's Nectar Restaurant. We
had a great meal and a night of fine tertainment.
Our night was complete with a friendly hotel to stay
at.
Mr. Crundwell we found your housekeeping staff,
front desk staff and your morning breakfast staff
very helpful and friendly.
I will certainly
recommend your Ocean View Hotel to any of my
friends going to Dartmouth for an overnight stay.
Thank you also for giving us a specail room rate, it
was very much appreciated.

Good morning,
When staying at the holiday inn and suites Grande
Prairie, customer service is above and beyond what
you would expect.
On March 19th, 2014 I had several family members
travel and stay at your hotel to attend my father’s
funeral March 20th in Trenton, NS.
The link was on the P and K MacDonald website and
brought to my attention while making arrangements,
for any relatives who may have been in need of this
service.
I wanted to extend a thank you to your staff for
making a very trying time so much easier for our
family members who travelled from Ontario, New
Brunswick and Halifax area. I found it interesting each
family commented at different times over the last few
months on how “excellent” the staff was in
accommodating for check in/check out etc. Nothing
seemed to be an issue and as one cousin commented
to me “they went above and beyond”.
I felt it was important to forward these compliments
in times where many are quick to criticize, often we
never hear as much about the positive. Having worked
35 years as an ICU nurse, I was pleased to hear that
they felt they were taken care of during their stay with
you. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Paula MacDonald

I have been working out of town for the duration of 13
years; good customer service is a dying trait. It’s
something you just don't see anymore.
This hotel, from management to the housekeepers,
defines great service. You can walk through the
hallways here and receive smiles and greetings from
the housekeeping (never seen that before). Checking
in is a pleasure as the front desk people don't seem
like they are capable of being unfriendly. After 13
years of staying in hotels, the Grande Prairie location is
a cut above the rest.
I have stayed at holiday inns across Alberta, British
Columbia and Saskatchewan and not one of them
even come close to comparing. In Edson, Alberta, Not
once have I got the room I reserved. Needless to say, I
don't stay there anymore. In Whitecourt, Alberta, the
simplest requests always seem to be like pulling teeth.
I still to this day, look forward to coming here.
Saleem is the assistant gm at this location, his self
alone is a cut above the rest. From my first stay here
to my 100th, he has treated me the way you would
expect to be treated. I can think of at least 10 general
managers at different hotels that could completely
change their customer service by spending an hour
with Saleem. Any request, no matter how small or
large has been taken care of promptly. Saleem defines
what a GM should be. If I ever had a request, I have
never waited longer than an hour for him to get back
to me. In this day and age, that just doesn’t happen
anymore.
Hats off to the staff and there dedication to customer
service you receive at this hotel. Keep up the amazing
work.
Sincerely,
David Charette
