Thank you for your participation in the Upstate Spartans Golf Classic. Your valued support has allowed our

•Upstate placed a school record 149 student athletes on the A-Sun All-Academic Team.
•Four Spartans were named A-Sun Scholar-Athlete
of the Year in their respective sports:
Mario Blessing (men’s basketball), Rachel Reiling
(women’s golf), Marvin Schmiege (men’s soccer)
and Lexi Shubert (softball).
•The South Carolina General Assembly recognized
men’s basketball player Ty Greene for winning the
Lou Henson Award as the best mid-major player in
the country.
•The softball team won the A-Sun regular season
and tournament championships, giving the
program four conference titles in three years.
•The softball team made its third consecutive
appearance in the NCAA Tournament, playing in the
Tuscaloosa Regional hosted by Alabama.
•Men’s golfer Ryan Cornfield earned an individual
berth into the NCAA Championship and finished
tied for 23rd at the Chapel Hill Regional.
•Spartans Ty Greene (men’s basketball) and Marvin
Schmiege (men’s soccer) were named A-Sun Player
of the Year in their respective sports.
•The softball team swept the major individual
postseason awards with Shellie Robinson as the
Player of the Year, Lexi Shubert Pitcher of the Year,
Karla Beasley Freshman of the Year and Chris
Hawkins Coach of the Year.
