.Cerebral Palsy History
The Calgary Cerebral Palsy Association - Light up a Childs’s Life
was formed in 1952 by a group of
parents looking for a better future
for their children affected by Cerebral Palsy.
KCC and Cerebral Palsy
Over 29 years ago, the Kinsmen
Club of Calgary began sponsoring
our annual Christmas Party. Since
that time, our Christmas Party has
over 300 people attending, and the
Kinsmen are still supporting this
event.
For the previous years the Calgary Cerebral Palsy Association
has held an adaptive bike clinic.
They provide bikes to their members who are unable to ride a typical bike. Sometimes this means

supplying a bike trailer so the individual may participate in family outings or just a set of balance wheels to offer more stability while riding out
in the community. These bikes can also be adapted so that even a severely physically disabled child can ride..
They are extremely grateful to the Kinsmen Club of Calgary for provided
$15,000.00 to fund adaptive bikes for kids affected by Cerebral Palsy.
In 2012 The Kinsmen Club of Calgary donated 5,000.00 for there funding

1942, the Kinsmen Club of Calgary made
it their goal to raise $0.10 per Calgarian
and entered a Milk Wagon in the Calgary
Stampede Parade. Spectators were encouraged to throw dimes into the wagon.
That first Mile of Dimes raised
$1,600.00 with all proceeds going to
Milk for Britain. By the end of the war
Calgarians had donated $100,000.00
through the Calgary Club ($300,000.00
was raised nationally.) This translated

KCC in Your Community
Throughout the year the Kinsmen Club of Calgary is involved in countless community
projects and helping out in
and around Calgary. The Kinsmen motto is ‘Serving the

Cystic Fibrosis and The Mile of Dimes
If 2 people who know one another each wish to buy
20 tickets for $20.00, you may want to suggest that
they combine their money and buy 100 tickets for
$50.00. This way they are getting 50 tickets for
$25.00 each instead of 20 tickets for $20.00.
If you see that buyers are going to buy $20.00 worth
of tickets on all the vehicles, be sure to tell them about
the Rainbow package. For a $100.00, they can buy
sheets of tickets for all the vehicles at one time and it
saves them $20.00.

Local Albertan’s who bought tickets on all of the
lotteries by phone or on-line prior to the start of the
Stampede may ask if their purchase included all of the
Wheels vehicles. The answer is no. Their purchase
included a chance to win the truck and fifth wheel, the
truck and toys and the boat and wheels only.
Advise buyers not to fold sheets of tickets. The
tickets will go through the printer easier.
Direct the buyers to the closest printer booth and
show them where the nearest drop box is for tickets. If

Easter Seals Camp Horizon
Easter Seals History
Easter Seals Camp Horizon was
established by the Kinsmen Club of
Calgary in 1965 out of a need to
establish a permanent residential
camp facility in southern Alberta for
children and adults with special
needs. Located on 66 acres in
Kananaskis Country with excellent
access and beautiful views of the
Elbow River and the Rocky Mountains. Through the support of the
Kinsmen, Easter Seals Camp Horizon has grown from a summer camp
to a year-round full-service facility.
Since inception, the Kinsmen Club
of Calgary has remained one of
Easter Seals Camp Horizon’s most
prominent and valued supporters.
Together they have witnessed over
100,000 Albertans of all abilities
overcome their physical barriers
through specialized outdoor recreation.

TaKIN' Your Food to the Bank
The Kinsmen Club of Calgary teamed up with
Brinks and Safeway at
Westhills and Shawnessy
to make this event happen. On one Saturday in
February 2012, we encouraged Safeway customers to buy food packs
with the objective of filling
the trucks that were
parked outside the stores.
Together with the guys
from Brinks, we collected
food items and cash valued at $18,000.00, thanks
to the generosity of Calgarians that made this
happen.
Enviros History with KCC
For over 36 years, the Kinsmen
Club of Calgary have been a
major supporter of Enviros Wilderness School Association. We
began our partnership in 1976
when Kinsmen donated funds
that were instrumental in the
building of our cornerstone program “Base Camp”.
KCC and CUPS
CUPS is a non profit organization
dedicated to helping individuals and
families overcome poverty. Their
programs focus on health care and
education to address the root causes
of poverty and achieve lasting solutions.
Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank
also donated funds that have
helped Enviros to purchase and
maintain their fleet of vehicles
resulting in programs being able
to work with children, youth and
families both within the city and
in the wilderness. Over the last
36 years this has equalled over
$500,000 in donations.
KCC’s donations
Past years the Kinsmen Club of
Calgary donated $40,000.00
towards a Challenge Ropes
Course. This year $52,000.00
was donated to help purchase a
wood burning boiler, a diesel
generator container and a solar
panel.

Hull Child and Family Services
Hull History with Kin
The Kinsmen, were the first to
help Hull Child and family services and now 24 years later we
continue to help the needy, atrisk kids at Hull. In the earlier
days through Kingo Bingo, we
funded the library, providing
books, encyclopedias, specialized reading materials for illiterate teens, as well as furniture,
shelves and AV equipment.
Through the Kinsmen Wheels
we have been able to provide
several Hull vans to transport
their children to home visits,
medical appointments, shopping,
recreation and camp trips. Because of their interest in educaPage 8
