Where sound illuminates ideas and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience.Today, Radiolab is one of public radio's most popular shows. Its podcasts are downloaded over 4 million times each month and the program is carried on 437 stations across the nation. Robert Krulwich and Jad Abumrad co-host the Peabody Award-winning program. In addition to Radiolab, Krulwich reports for National Public Radio. Abumrad has produced public radio documentaries for On The Media, Studio 360, Morning Edition, All Things Considered and WNYC's "24 Hours at the Edge of Ground Zero." Listen to Radio-Lab Tuesdays at 7:00pm on WSKG Public Radio. Community Conversation: The First Five Serving as a childcare provider or as a Pre-Kindergarten instructor is demanding work. They must satisfy parental and state expectations, endure long hours and cope with low pay. Why do it? On April 15, WSKG’s Community Conversation explores the demands placed on educators, caregivers and their managers. The forum, which is free and open to the public, takes place at 3:00pm in Room 201 at the Decker Health Sciences Building on the campus of SUNY-Broome Community College. It’s then broadcast at 7:00pm on WSKG Radio and rebroadcast at 11:00am the following morning on WSQX. This spring, through a series of special reports and Community Conversation broadcasts, WSKG is exploring our region’s childcare and early childhood education systems, and the challenges parents face in finding quality care for their children. 6 wskg.org GAMUT April 2015 WSKG Radio • 89.3 Binghamton • 90.9 Ithaca • 88.7 Hornell/Alfred • 91.1 Corning/Elmira • 91.7 Oneonta/Cooperstown • 89.9 Odessa/Watkins Glen April Listener-supported WSKG Public Radio, serving 21 counties in NY and PA with NPR News, Classical, Jazz and Folk.
