Exhibitor Tax Information
ITF 2010 Exhibitor,
The following information contains all the
pertinent tax information required by the State of
Texas. Please follow the guidelines from the
comptroller:
In order to sell taxable items within the state of
Texas, your vendors will need to possess a
Texas sales and use tax permit. For more information on responsibilities and
requirements of Texas sales and use tax permit holders, please see rule 3.286

Apply for a sales tax permit online at: http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxpermit/.
Or, download an application for a sales tax permit (form AP-201) online at:
http://window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxforms/01-forms.html.
Send the application to the address on the form or you can take the application to
a local field office. Find the nearest local office online at:
http://window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/fieldoff.html.
You will receive a permit in about 4-5 weeks. There is no fee for a sales and use
tax permit. You can issue a resale certificate to your supplier to purchase items
tax free for resale after you have applied for a sales tax permit. A resale
certificate is available online at:
http://www.cpa.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxforms/01-forms.html#Resale.
When you obtain your Texas sales and use tax permit, you will be instructed to
file your sales tax return on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis based on the
volume of sales indicated on your application. Taxpayers must file a sales tax
return even if they have no sales for the reporting period. Sales tax returns are
