a charming, working heritage district just north of

A Massive Flock of Geese Have Taken Up
Residence on Main Street Markham!
Where have all the geese come from and why have they
settled on Main Street, Markham?
Main Street Markham is on the direct path of a migratory
route for the Canada Geese and they come here in droves. So
much in fact, that the merchants of the Main Street Markham
Business Association have adopted the bird as their ‘mascot’
and are flying with the theme in
honour of the great bird.
Take a drive up (or down) Main Street and there will be as
many as 300-400 geese, sitting on store fronts and roof tops.
Not to mention all over the town.
These geese are now part of the new Main Street Markham
logo, and they are receiving a warm welcome on the street
from store owners and customer alike as the official Main
Street Markham mascot!
The street features many unique businesses and
historical buildings, a number of shopping
boutiques, artisans, spas, coffee and tea shops,
cafes, bistros, pubs and first-class restaurants.
