and Joanne Graham announced
this season’s line-up of talented
artists from here and beyond, performing at their 2011 House Concert Series in Iroquois.
The French Café on English
Road venue at the couple’s home
just north of Iroquois provides an
unique and intimate venue which
has featured a number of extremely talented and well known
musicians, and promises to do
this same for in 2011.
“The launch of our fourth season and the closure of our house
concerts 2011, will be presented
by a world renowned artist who
plays over 300 concerts per year,
Doug MacLeod,” said Pronovost.
“The extremely talented and
friendly, Doug MacLeod,” added
Graham.
This, “Master Of Original
Acoustic Blues” is an author,
composer and performer, who
presents the Blues tinted of humor with his unique style, with
stories and original songs touch-
ing all of us at an acoustic concert
in the purest tradition of the blues
sound.
To his credit, Doug MacLeod
has directed and produced 18 albums, two DVDs teaching the
Blues, and this year he is nominated by the Blues Foundation /
Music Award in the category of
“Best Acoustic Blues Artist Of
The Year 2011”.
March 8, his new album Brand

wide.

Over 90 played, so the top prize was $600. Now isn’t that better
than the Casino?
Speaking of winning, Elsie G. won the meat draw, dare I say,
again. This time she got to take home pork tenderloin, a great
variety.
Bingo will be played on Wednesday, April 6, with the Ladies
Auxiliary meeting taking place on April 7 in the pub. They are
also catering a dinner on April 8. Everyone is busy and getting
busier.
There will be a cribbage tournament on Saturday, April 8 in
the pub, with registration at 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be
available. These continue Branch # 48’s Anniversary celebrations
with special prizes available. Anniversary t-shirts are also still
available at $13 with tax. They make a great memento or a special
gift for someone out of town.
All the usual Branch activities continue, so it is busy. A note
to anyone who may be needing the hall for that special function.
Saturday bookings are filling up quickly, so book now or perhaps

April is cancer month so walk, bike or support someone who
does, and donate to the cause as we Search for the Cure. There
are daffodil pins this year replacing the real flowers, a reminder
that lasts. Perhaps you might consider volunteering to help in the
canvassing. Cancer can be beaten.
