DETAILED ITINERARY
Delhi If arriving in Delhi before, we can arrange accommodation and transport at a fee – please discuss your itinerary.
Day 1: Delhi / Samode (250 km / 5-6 hrs)
After breakfast, our representative will meet you at your hotel and drive to Samode. On arrival, check in to your hotel
and relax for the remainder of the day.
Samode Palace is a 300-year-old maharaja's mansion which was converted to a boutique hotel near Jaipur, in the
heart of Rajasthan. Key features of the building include mirror-tiled halls, mural-lined walls, marble swimming pools and
regal antique-filled suites, showcasing days gone by.
Day 2: Samode / Nawalgarh (120 km / 3-4 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Nawalgarh which is in the heart of the Shekhawati region. On arrival, check in at Roop Niwas
Kothi and take that rest of the day to explore the surrounding towns and villages with their painted havelis and temples.
Nawalgarh is a town in the Jhunjhunu district and is part of Panchpana. It was established by Thakur Nawal Singh Ji
Bahadur of Shekhawat in 1737 AD. He received the region from his father Maharao Shardul Singh Ji, the ruler of
Jhunjhunu. Thakur Nawal Singh Ji and his descendants were lovers of art and culture. This influence is visible in the
structure and furnishings of Nawalgarh fort and other buildings they built.
Day 3: Nawalgarh/ Khimsar (250 km / 5-6 hrs)
In the morning, drive to Khimsar Fort which is a charming heritage hotel. Blackbutt can be sometimes seen on the short
jeep safaris from the village.
Khimsar Fort is set in the sand dunes. The amazing fort of Khimsar stands as securely as ever, even after many
centuries of battles and strife. The construction began in 1523, and twenty one generations later a major part of the fort
presents itself with all the grandeur of Rajput hospitality. Be cocooned within eleven acres of lush lawns under the
canopy of bright clear skies and soak in the rustic charm of a time gone by. Open spaces, courtyards surrounding the
rooms, stone carved exteriors, and windows and arches are characteristics of this fort.
Day 4: Khimsar / Jaisalmer (290 km / 6-7 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Jaisalmer, the charming fortified settlement in the heart of the desert. Relax and enjoy the
journey.
Day 5: Jaisalmer /Pokhran (115 km / 2-3 hrs)
In the morning, explore Jaisalmer on foot. This area’s culture, crafts and practices have survived for centuries in their
original form.
David’s Tours
Visit Jaisalmer Fort (or Sonar Quila) which was built in 1150. The construction is in yellow sandstone which at certain
times of the day gives a golden glow. This is one of the oldest forts in Rajasthan. It stands 76 m high, is over 5 km in
circumference. It has 99 buttresses to help support the walls.
Also visit Gadisar Lake, but take a tuk-tuk or rickshaw as it is quite a walk from the walled city. The lake is man-made
and was built in 1400 by Makarwal Gadsi Singh to hold rainwater for drinking purposes. He aimed to provide all of
Jaisalmer with water.
Head towards Salim Singh Ki Haveli which has been built on the remains of an older haveli (built in the late 17th
century). The new building was built in the year 1815 and was occupied by the Mehta family of Jaisalmer. The Mehta
family was the most influential family of their time.
Also visit Nathmal Ki Haveli that was commissioned to serve as the residence of Diwan Mohata Nathmal, the then
Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. The architects of this haveli were Hathi and Lulu who happened to be brothers. There is a
interesting story regarding its construction. It is said that the two brothers started building different facets of the haveli
simultaneously, hence the irregular final shape.
Visit Patwon Ki Haveli and observe the interesting architecture. It is the most important among the havelis in Jaisalmer
for two reasons (a) It was the first haveli erected in Jaisalmer, and (b) It is not a single haveli but a cluster of 5 small
havelis. The first among these havelis was commissioned and constructed in the year 1805 by Guman Chand Patwa
and it is the biggest and the most ostentatious. It is believed that Patwa was a rich man and was a renowned trader of
his time. He could afford and thus ordered the construction of separate stories for each of his 5 sons. It still took 50
years to complete.
In the afternoon, drive to Pokharan Fort.
Pokharan Fort is a 14th century citadel also known as “Balagarh” and it stands as a paragon in the Thar Desert. This
monument is the premier fort of The Chief of Mighty Champawats (the clan of Rathores). Surrounded with rocky, sandy
and five salt ranges, POKHARAN means “the place of five mirages”. Fort Pokharan stands on an ancient trade route
that carried salt, silk and spices to Persia and beyond. Instead of winding caravans of the past, it now has trains, buses
and cars. The fort now attracts travelers who explore the glorious history where each stone speaks something about
the past.
Day 6: Pokhran/ Jodhpur (170 km / 3-4 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Jodhpur. On arrival, check in to the hotel.
Later visit Meharngarh Fort, an enormous hilltop fort that was built by Rao Jodha in 1459, when he shifted his capital
from Mandore to Jodhpur. Looking straight down a perpendicular cliff, the famously impregnable fort, about 500 feet
above the city, is an imposing landmark, especially at night, when it's bathed in yellow light. The palaces—Moti Mahal
(Pearl Palace), Phool Mahal (Flower Palace), Sheesh Mahal (Glass Palace) and the other apartments are exquisitely
decorated. Their ceilings, walls, and floors are covered with murals, mirror work, and gilt linings.
Also visit Jaswant Thada. This royal marble crematorium was built in 1899 for Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Capping the
enormous white structure are marble canopies under which individual members of the royal family are buried. You may
see people bowing before the image of the king, who is considered to have joined the ranks of the deities. A peaceful
spot to stop, either on your way up to the fort or on your way down
Head towards Umed Bhawan Palace and spot how Maharaja Umaid Singhji was fascinated by thewestern lifestyle. He
hired the services of a well-known Edwardian architect, Henry Vaughan Lanchester to oversee the construction of
Umaid Bhavan palace. A part of the palace now houses the Umaid Bhavan Palace of Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Day 7: Jodhpur/ Rawla Narlai (235 km / 5-6 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Narlai. On arrival, check in to the hotel.
Rawla Narlai is the stylish 17th-century hunting retreat of the Maharaja of Jodhpur. Rawla Narlai is located in the heart
of the semi-arid, granite-boulder strewn Aravalli Hills halfway between Udaipur and Jodhpur (near the village of Narlai).
Maharaja Swaroop Singh, together with his wife Rani Ushadevi, initiated refurbishment plans to restore this exotic villa
to its origins. The manor offers splendid views of a gigantic 350 feet high single rock of granite and it is dotted with
caves and temples. It is crowned by a statue of a white elephant, which stands as a proud guardian to the open desert
on one side and the sprawling Aravali hills on the other.
Day 8: Rawla Narlai
Day free. Explore the region on your own. Enjoy the day.

settlement of Rabaris. These are migrant people who generally move around but this permanent settlement has wellkept clean homes.

nestled in the beautiful and tranquil Arravali ranges – a place where leopards can be found. Bera, an adventurer’s

for the Leopard Liar.
Day11: Bera / Ranakpur (50 km / 1 hr)
After breakfast, drive to Ranakpur and see 16th century temples. On arrival, check in at Maharani Bagh, which is in the
middle of an orchard. In the evening, enjoy the Gerasia dancers performing.
Ranakapur is a quaint town in Rajasthan. The town is one of the five most important pilgrimage places of Jainism.
Despite being cut off from the usual tourist destinations in Rajasthan, Ranakpur is a major pilgrim destination in the
state. It is tucked away in a remote valley in the Aravali mountain range and is situated around 96 km north of Udaipur
in the Pali district. Ranakpur is named after Rana Kumbha who offered his land for the construction of a great temple.
The temple was a dream monument of Dharna Sah, a Jain businessman. This beautiful, serene place is renowned for
some amazingly carved amber stone in the Jain temples. These temples were constructed in 1439 AD.
Day12: Ranakpur / Deogarh (95 km / 1-2 hrs)

the largest temple in the city of Udaipur.
Also visit Saheliyon Ki Bari, one the most beautiful gardens. The garden is famous for its lush green lawns, marble art

Dungarpur is becoming popular among tourists. It is blessed with many places of interest. Among them, the Juna
Mahal is one of the most famous attractions. The particular structure dates back to the 13th century. The seven storied
