Directors of Guidance, while providing leadership for school counselors and the school district, have a constant focus on assisting school counselors in tailoring their programs to meet a myriad of student needs—educational, vocational, emotional, physical, and social. This is done while Directors and school counselors are simultaneously being faced with conflict, ambiguity, and redefinition of the counselors’ roles. The goal of this session is to assist Directors in their efforts to proactively build, implement, and advocate for their district guidance program and clientele while assisting the campus in addressing initiatives such as the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards and improving academic advisement and career exploration in the House Bill 5 environment. This learning institute will be delivered by a panel of individuals who will share their experience and expertise on the subject. Participants will be engaged in didactic and experiential activities. This program takes participants through the entire 2014 code of ethics in a fun-filled, interactive format.
