With the stress and uncertainty of ICD-10 implementation in the rear view mirror, we start the New Year with a focus on kicking on to new opportunities and enhanced business efficiencies. The debate over the delivery of quality and cost effective orthopaedic care in the State of Florida will continue unabashed in 2016. Legislative Session is starting two months earlier this year and discussions over reimbursement are at the forefront of legislative action already taking place in Tallahassee. Anderanin, CPC, CPPM, CPC-I, COSC Sr. Director of Coding Education Healthcare Information Services Lynn Anderanin, CPC, CPPM, CPC-I, COSC is the Sr. Director of Coding Compliance and Education for Healthcare Information Services, a physicians billing service. She has over 30 years experience in all areas of the physician practice. Currently, Lynn is a Certified Professional Coding Instructor, Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder, Workshop and Audio Presenter, as well as an AHIMA approved ICD-10CM Trainer. Lynn is a former member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) National Advisory Board, and has served on several other boards for the AAPC. She is also the founder of her Local Chapter of the AAPC. Cindy Dunn, RN, FACMPE AmerisourceBergen Associate Director, Client Services IntrinsiQ Specialty Solutions With 35 plus years of healthcare experience, Cindy Dunn, has held numerous leadership positions in both small and large health care organizations, including primary care, multi-specialty and large integrated systems. Her health care background encompasses a broad range of services, including medical practice management, operational improvement, technology engagement, organizational development and revenue cycle analysis. Drawing upon diverse operational, clinical, and financial experience, Cindy provides a unique insight into the needs and challenges facing physicians and integrated delivery systems. As the Associate Director of Client Services for IntrinsiQ Specialty Solutions she helps practices utilize the InfoDive® business analytic suite of services. She is an independent consultant for the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Health Care Consulting Group and a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Leslie Witkin Physicians First, Inc. Physicians First, Inc. was founded in Orlando, Florida in June of 1990 by the company president, Leslie Witkin. programs evolve and change. A prime focus for education and preservation of business revenue for the provider community has been in the areas of PQRS, Medicare EHR Meaningful Use, Value Based Payment Modifier, and ICD10. Leslie is a graduate of the DartmouthHitchcock School of Nursing in New Hampshire and has over thirty years of successful healthcare experience in the physician and non-physician practitioner clinical and business settings. She has particular expertise in regulatory compliance, documentation guidelines, chart audits, coding for multiple specialties, & education regarding these topics. In addition, as new rules and quality initiatives are mandated and legislated in the Medicare Part B program, Leslie has been at the forefront of understanding and educating providers in the rules and initiatives with timely updates that continue as the Leslie’s long term healthcare career has fostered mutual respect in clinical and professional relationships with physicians, as well as the executives and staff personnel in the organizations that work for and represent physician interests. The goal of her company is to provide quality consulting services to help physicians achieve a successful business in a complex regulatory environment that allows physicians to be a physician first….the way it should be. 37 SPEAKER BIOS, CONTINUED Ann Bittinger , Esq The Bittinger Law Firm , Jacksonville, FL • Member, Board of Directors, American Health Lawyers Association • Certified in 2005 by The Florida Bar as an expert in health law • Practice focus: business transactions and regulatory compliance within the health care industry Ann Bittinger is a healthcare transactions and regulations attorney with The Bittinger Law Firm. Based in Florida, she represents clients across the nation on state and federal healthcare laws. Her practice focus on physician organizations, but includes representation of all types of entities and individuals in the health care industry. Practice areas include Stark and Anti-Kickback statute compliance, Affordable Care Act, Medicare and RAC audits, relationships with payers, joint ventures, employment agreements, corporate structure development, medical staff issues, representation before licensing boards and HIPAA. She is currently the only attorney in the State of Florida serving on the Board of Directors of the American Health Lawyers Association, the nation’s leading professional organization of health care attorneys. Fraser Cobbe Executive Director, Florida Orthopaedic Society & Bones Society of Florida President, Cobbe Consulting & Management Fraser Cobbe, a Political Science major from Florida State University, has served as Executive Director of the Florida Orthopaedic Society since 2001. In 2007, Fraser formed Cobbe Consulting & Management, an association management company that currently represents the following organizations: Bones Society of Florida; Florida Orthopaedic Risk Purchasing Group; Florida Society of Nephrology; International Geriatric Fracture Society; Orange County Medical Society; and the South Carolina Orthopaedic Association. Fraser received the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Executive Director of the Year Award in 2003. The Florida Orthopaedic Society was awarded the AAOS State Orthopaedic Society of the Year in 2006 and 2008. Fraser served as Chair of the Council of Florida Medical Society Executives in 2010. He previously served on the AAMSE Program Committee and Trends Task Force. Kevin C. Joyce, MBA, CMPE Executive Director, Orlando Orthopaedic Center Kevin Joyce joined Orlando Orthopaedic Center as Executive Director in June 2006. Accomplished in orthopaedic practice management, Mr. Joyce’s experience includes serving as the Executive Director of Orthopaedic Associates of St. Augustine and Administrative Director of the University of Florida Orthopaedic Department at Shands Jacksonville. On the forefront of medical practice management, Mr. Joyce has successfully passed his board certification with the American College of Medical Practice Executives and is active in related societies including Medical Group Management Association and the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives. Kevin has extensive experience with the implementation of electronic health record systems and Digital X-ray. He has also directed the construction and development of orthopaedic 4 ambulatory surgery centers and pain management programs. He has also helped develop many successful and profitable ancillary services within the orthopaedic practice including in-house brace dispensing, medication dispensing, interventional pain management services, MRI and physical therapy. Prior to orthopaedic practice administration, Mr. Joyce implemented the start-up of a new healthcare Preferred Provider Network (PPO), and served as Director of Provider Networks Premera Health Plans and KPS Health Plans in Washington State. Mr. Joyce attained his Bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and his MBA with emphasis in Health Care Administration from Temple University.
