benefit the entire curriculum, and to which every staff
member can contribute.
Eclipse.net includes a suite of over 10,000 WebLinks,

their learning.
Make reading cooler with eBooks!

Lastly, imagine that world again, but this time when
parents logged in to the parent portal of your school’s

reading activity of their child. Imagine if they could
see exactly which books their child was reading at the
moment, could see which websites their child had
been visiting to help them with their school work, even
be informed of any outstanding resources their child
needed to return.
Imagine if books you wished to promote were displayed
in a format more familiar to that which your pupils use at
home when searching for music.

Imagine your library at the heart of your Learning Platform or VLE
Imagine if, whilst browsing, they selected a book that
interested them and were able to read other pupil’s
reviews and watch a video clip of the author talking
about the book.
Would that help keep them informed of their child’s
reading progress?
Could that inspire them to borrow the book and read
it for themselves?
Imagine no longer.
Now imagine the same world, but every time a member
of teaching staff logged on to your school’s Learning
Platform or VLE, they could instantly see graphs of the
very latest reading statistics from the library.
This is all possible now as a result of the work MLS has
been doing in partnership will all the main Learning
Platform providers and Microsoft to raise the profile
of libraries.
Imagine if they could see an overview by year group, drill
down further to tutor group, even as far as by individual
if they wished.

Management Interface and toolset
All the information you need, instantly
Eclipse.net has been designed to deliver an intuitive and easily customisable interface, providing a logical layout and
toolset to help you and your students get started straight away.
Monitor and identify trends and target readers’ interests using excellent statistical information.
Eclipse.net allows you the flexibility to customise and prepare your own statistics along with over 80 ready to
use report templates, including standard school inspections, circulation figures, audits and statistic dashboard.
The new enhanced views facility allows you to conduct searches and target specific data directly from within a
report. The community statistics also enable you to view the most popular titles across our scope of users.
Unlimited multimedia cataloguing
Streamlining your regular tasks is easy with
our scheduling facility
Because Eclipse.net is web-based software, this allows
you to access and add to the catalogue from any
browser-based location. The customisable record cards
allow you the freedom to catalogue a variety of resource
types, including books, CDs, websites, equipment,
hardware, documents and eBooks.
Personalised overdue reminder letters can be scheduled
to print out or to email students, parents or staff.
Other time consuming tasks such as tidying catalogue
records and importing new student data can be automated,
freeing up time for staff to spend with students.
Let MLS Connect take care of your student import for you
MLS Connect provides a dynamic link between Eclipse.net and your MIS making the enrolment process fast,
clean and simple. Easily customisable record cards and the introduction of resource categories allow you to quickly
establish and automatically target your students’ individual reading and research preferences.
Live media files such as movie clips and specialist
audio files can be added to your catalogue at the click
of a button.
Our online cataloguing service, Discovery, improves
the speed of your cataloguing by providing an instant
download of bibliographical data and book cover
images, and also enhances the catalogue records with
access to author movies, book summaries, book
recommendations and a vast directory of approved,
curriculum-relevant websites.

Working in partnership to deliver a more personalised,
integrated and engaging learning experience
Eclipse.net offers integration with most Management Information Systems and can integrate with your chosen Learning
Platform / VLE, biometrics or smartcards, Active Directory / Shibboleth for single sign-on and is designed to help you raise
the profile of your library and resources to provide a whole school resource.
Using Finger Biometrics
MLS ID Solutions
When biometric ID is used, cards and passwords are
no longer required to access services and borrow
resources. This can result in a significant increase in
students uptake of library services. Use of biometrics
also eradicates the problems associated with cardsharing and lost cards. Staff time is not taken up by
having to replace lost or stolen cards.
Staff and students can access their records and perform
circulation functions simply by placing their finger on
a scanner, increasing both speed and security. People
are identified quicker and more efficiently, especially at
busy times.
MLS Advantage Support, Training and the MLS Community
All MLS clients gain access to their own personalised
user portal called MyMLS, providing a definitive online
multimedia knowledgebase.
Whatever you need from your library system, Eclipse.
net offers you simplicity, reliability and ultimate
flexibility with unrivalled scope for expansion.
What really sets MLS apart from our competitors is our
strong and supportive after sales network. Whether
you’re upgrading from an existing version of Eclipse or
converting from another system you’ll gain immediate
access to our fantastic technical support team, a
valuable growing network and community of existing
users and helpful organisations.

Using Cards
As an alternative to biometrics, cards can still be issued
as a method of identification. All of the functionality,
configuration and management options available for
biometric ID also apply when using cards. Furthermore,
users can have both biometric and card recognition
registered in the same database if required.
