Mid Ulster Reproductions are market leaders
in the production of quality, bespoke wooden
surrounds. All of our surrounds are
manufactured in-house, thereby ensuring that
our customers receive a level of quality and
service unrivalled by our competitors. We
have over 25 years experience of bringing the
finest exclusive designs to the market. From
contemporary surrounds in walnut and oak to
classic designs in pine and mahogany, there is
something in our collection to suit all tastes
and budgets. We also produce matching over
mantles and furniture to compliment each
surround in our brochure. All our designs can
be manufactured in a selection of materials
and our highly trained craftsmen are also
able to customise all our fireplaces to suit
your individual specifications where necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have my surround made larger or smaller?
Yes certainly. We offer a bespoke service
whereby we can alter the size, material used
or stain. Please contact your local stockist for
further details.
Can I have a matching overmantle for my fire
surround? Yes you can. All our surrounds have
a matching overmantle which will help frame
your fireplace to perfection. Please contact
your stockist for details.
I have seen a fireplace I like in your brochure
but would like it in a different wood, is this
possible? Not a problem. All fireplaces included
in our brochure were selected for display
purposes. Our on site craftsmen are able to
manufacture all surrounds in a range of woods
so please contact your stockist for details.
I have a piece of furniture that I would love
my fireplace to match, do you offer a colour
matching service? Yes we do. Through being
in the industry for over 25 years we realise the
importance people place on ensuring their
fireplace matches the rest of their furniture.
Please contact your local stockist with a sample
of your furniture and they will in turn work
with us to ensure we match the colour when
manufacturing your fireplace.
What type of wood is used in your surrounds?
Our solid woods are selected carefully from
suppliers all over the world. Over time we
have established strong relationships with
suppliers of sustainable wood sources. We
only accept “Grade A” hardwoods and in
doing so we are confident in standing over our
products as those of the very highest quality.

(iii) the reproduction of colour in this brochure is limited by printing
techniques, so please refer to our in-shop colour boards.
Do you manufacture matching furniture?
Certainly. MRL manufacture furniture to match
all our fireplaces. We can provide coffee
tables, nested tables, as well as television
storage units. The furniture is manufactured in
our onsite factory by our own highly skilled
craftsmen to any size you require. Please
contact your local stockist with your request.
I notice you have several surrounds made
from pippy oak. What is this exactly?
Pippy oak will contain naturally occurring
knots and swirling grains of various sizes.
Pippy oak includes patches, clusters or small
single pip knots which give the effect of “cats
paws”. The amount of “pips” can vary from
board to board even in the same tree.
The Beauty of Wood
No two trees are alike and therefore no two planks
of wood will contain exactly the same grain pattern
or color. Indeed even within the same tree there will
be variations. These natural variations in grain and
color are a result of how the tree was effected by
sunlight, climate and the soil.
The very nature of wood means that no two fireplaces
will be the same and it is the variation in characteristics
which give each wooden fireplace its unique beauty.
Please note that wood naturally ages, darkens,
changes color and mellows over time. This is primarily
due to exposure to light.
